Random Fact # 4

Sorry to be a party-pooper but I don't like clowns. Rather than make me laugh, they just give me the creeps. I'm not afraid of them, I just find them....freaky! I don't like clown paraphernalia either whether it be ornaments, toys, pictures or dolls....no thank you!! I have to admit that even drawing a clown for this random fact about myself was difficult. I started out with one image in my mind more like the clown out of Stephen King's IT (even though I've never seen the movie) but once I started, my pencil did the talking and, the drawing changed a few times ending up more a child clown.....not my intention but I do wonder if there is a significance behind it.

  1. OMG I saw your image before I read your text and I thought...I'll have to tell Serena it's a lovely drawing but clowns creep me the hell out!

maybe it's the horror section of your sketchbook?

  4. Thank you, Boyd. :) It's nice to know that I'm not alone. Clowns seem to be loved by so many people so I often hold my tongue regarding my feelings about them.

  5. Gee Serena, you really surprised me with your comments about not liking clowns. You drew him so well I thought you loved them! Great drawing especially since you don't like them. :)

  6. Thanks, Teri....I'm glad my feelings about clowns didn't show through in the drawing even though, to me, the drawing creeps me out. :)

    Thanks, Shelly :)

  7. Its a nice clown drawing even if they are a bit creepy. Clowns don't bug me as much as those animals mascots at amusement parks do. Freaked me out as a kid to have this huge bear try to hug me. lol

  8. Thanks, Jennifer. :) My son used to be terrified of the large animal mascots when he was a toddler...our local shopping centre would have a huge 'rabbit' at Easter time and my son use to make a VERY wide berth around it. No amount of coaxing with chocolate Easter eggs by the 'rabbit' was going to get him any closer. lol

  9. You are so incredibly talented... wow. I agree about clowns. Perhaps it's the stigma from horror films, or just b/c their are so creepy in their own right...completely agree. Perhaps it's the painted on smile and the red beak. Unsure. Thanks for your lovely comment on my site. I couldn't agree more with your sentiments on elder abuse. Love your site...

  10. I just popped over to see if I could tag you but I see you've had it already! Your art blows me away, especially the acylics - amazing! Anyway, I wanted to add that I find clowns creepy too. Something quite sinister about that forced jollity!
