Bald Eagle painting - Revisited

This past week has been so busy for me with battling migraines two days in a row, a specialist appointment, teaching class, trying to get some of my own painting done, not to mention that dreaded word.....housework! I decided to give my bald eagle a background after all. I'm not sure which way I like it best but this is the absolute final time I am touching it apart from a coat of varnish. I do have another art project I'm working on but I can't show it here yet because it's for an exchange in an online art group I belong to......all I can say is that it's something along the Christmas side of things.

I love what you've done to the eagle painting! It really looks fantastic with that background. I LOVE that deep green colour :)

Look forward to seeing your project - I'll have to be patient :)

  5. Amazing work. The texture is particularly well done. It looks as if you could reach out and brush the feathers... if you could get past that sharp beak, that is. Those are also some intense eyes. Great job.

  8. I like the dark background - it really sets of the eagle. Now hurry up and varnish it before you change your mind! LOL!

I hope you are feeling better - and don't fret over that housework - it will still be here long after we are gone. I have resigned to keeping it clean and given up on spotless.

  9. Thanks, Kathy :)

I'm feeling much better too.... thanks for the well wishes. I think my migraines are stemming from the anaemia side of things so I must remember to take my iron supplements or stock up on stout again. ;)

  10. Stunning! I can't believe it's acrylics. Your birds are just incredible! I loved reading about "the absolute final time I am touching it..." I understand. If you want any advice on migraines, I'm happy to share what I know, having finally found relief from them.

  17. I don't know how you manage to get such wonderful feather texture with acrylics. This is an awesome painting!

  18. Thanks, Jessica. I usually work in layers and washes which I think helps to build up the feathers. :)
