Random Fact # 8

Brussels sprouts happen to be my favourite vegetable! I adore their rich, strong flavour and I feel all the better knowing that they are very high in nutritional value. They are also known to produce sulforaphane which boosts the body's detoxification enzymes thereby helping to clear potentially carcinogenic matter more quickly from the body.

  1. I love brussel sprouts too. I just bought a stalk of them last week and I am still eating them.

You have captured the image very well.

  2. Thanks, Becky. Downunder, Brussels Sprouts are sold loose. :)

  3. Ours are sold loose too, and if they are cooked just right, I can manage to get them down. Not my favorite, but knowing how good they are for you, we force ourselves!

  4. I love the various green shades in this drawing: very appealing to the eyes and quite refreshing. Lovely!

*I’ve never known anyone who love brussel sprouts until I met my husband. You are the second person. :)

  7. Thanks for dropping by Kathy, Luci and Jessica. It's nice to know there are other Brussels Sprouts lovers out there as I'm sure we're in the minority.

Jessica, funny thing is that my daughter is not a fan of vegetables at all and yet she loves Brussels Sprouts. Go figure. lol

  8. Brussel sprouts are my least favorite vegetable, right next to lima beans (it's a texture thing) but your DRAWING of brussel sprouts is one of my new favorite things. All those overlapping leaves - fantastic!

  9. Thanks, Martha ~ :)

Thanks, juj! I have to laugh at your mention of lima beans because they happen to be my favourite type of bean. lol

  12. I just had brussel sprouts at a restaurant the other night and for the first time enjoyed them. And now I really enjoyed your drawing too. It's so interesting they're your favorite vegetable. For years they were my least favorite. I occasionally cooked them anyway though and my son always called them "lettuce meatballs" when he was little.

  13. I love all the different greens in the leaves, super drawing! I had no idea that brussel sprouts grew like that - I'm not a big fan so I was never curious but that is so interesting!

  14. Thanks, Jana. I had a chuckle at your son's name for them...maybe he equates them with cabbage rolls? :)

  15. Serena great illustration. Neat facts. I cook a lot and find this very interesting. Neat to see this is your favorite vegetable, mine is probably the tomato or a squash.

Thanks, Boyd. It's always nice to meet a man who likes to cook. Generations ago, it was the woman's domain and, even today, my Mum hates Dad in the kitchen ~ :)

  17. I do think a lot of kids would rather play around with them on their plates rather than eat them...lol...thanks for dropping by, spinning girl. :)
