zebra painting - work in progress - stage seven

i have the finish line in sight now. still a little more work to be done on the zebras, and ground.....then some foreground grass should put the finishing touch to it. the stance of the baby zebra bugged me a little so i altered it. i had a headache by the time i finished painting in the dark stripes on the baby zebra. lol

  1. :-0 I love the sun reflections you have on the Zebra's hides. It really gives this piece so much life and colour. Such a good job making this feel like the hot African grasslands.

  2. Beautiful! The colors are so rich and lush with the colors of the sunset setting off the colors and lines of the zebras. Aren't you just tickled to pieces over how it turned out? Stunning art.

  3. Thanks, Jennifer...that's the feel I was aiming for. :)

Thanks, Linda....I'll definitely be glad to get this piece finished. It's been put on hold too many times for commissions and other projects., so it's been good to finally devote my art time to it alone. I am pleased with how it has turned out so far. :)

  4. This is absolute perfection Serena,
It's brilliant, the refections of colour on the animals, the gradual changes of depth of the colour from the background to the foreground.. Just perfection, Ro

  10. absolutely stunning Serena but your animals always are. I love the warmth of this and the caring look in the mother's zebras eyes. I know it is you and your son. :)

Thanks, Luci. lol My student came for class the other morning and stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the zebra painting. Barb said she felt like crying because she felt such strong emotion welling up inside. She was so taken with it and I was stoked that my painting had such an emotional effect on someone.
