Second stage - Work In Progress

i've had a busy few days....lots of distractions but important ones so i didn't mind being kept away from the studio. i did get more done on the painting this morning. i haven't fussed too much over the ear as i'm debating whether or not to place a flower there. what do you think? i'm thinking a lily or hibiscus flower. apart from that, i just have to add some inspirational words that i already have in mind and i'll be able to call it finished.

  2. It's looking fabulous Serena . . . a flower might be a nice touch too, a focal point perhaps?

  4. With or without the flower--I think it is beautiful! Is she the kind of girl who'd wear a flower? Or are you thinking of adding it for another punch of color? It will be gorgeous either way.

  5. This is s beautiful and the smoothness of her skin is incredible and the way you did her hair. I think a flower would be beautiful but even without one it's great.

  9. Serena, you will continue to awe and dazzle me with your art. This painting is beautiful; Michelle is a gorgeous muse, the way you apply the colors are so skilled and superb. (happy sigh). I wish you many free times to work on your art. I cannot wait to see more progress on this painting. :)

  11. It made my morning to wake up to all your wonderful compliments. Thanks so much!

It looks like a flower will win out and I'm thinking a hibiscus. I actually have different pic of Shell wearing a red hibiscus which I think would be perfect to get that punch of colour Rita mentioned. I keep seeing a splash of red when I look at the painting so I'm going to listen to that inner voice. Thanks so much for your great advice. I love to get my bloggy friends involved in the process. :)

  14. Thanks so much, Dianne! I am not confident painting people at all and I think this is the first portrait of a person that I've actually done. I must admit that I am pleased with how it's progressing. :)

Thanks, Janet! The flower won out and is done so now all I have to work on is the inspirational words and then I'll post a pic. :)
