soul coaching - day two

affirmation for today - i honour my commitments to myself and others.

after a day of focusing on my deep breathing yesterday, i woke up this morning feeling very aware of the air around me. i breathed in deeply.....it was drizzling rain outside and numerous types of bird were announcing their awakening also. it was a nice start to my day.

i am still feeling unwell so, i chose level one from the tasks which was to commit to one empowering action daily. the area i have had the most problem committing to lately has been my art and creativity because my life always seems to be filled with so many distractions. necessary ones but distractions nonetheless. i had already committed to posting art or something creative on my blog daily for the month of november so, to that, i have decided to add a daily 15 minute meditation. i was tempted to add one or two more things from the list as there were a few that appealed to me but, denise said to choose one, and i fear that i may over-commit and let myself down if i take on too much, too soon. baby steps......

my meditation attempts in the past have never become habitual even though it's something i have always yearned to do on a daily basis. so, this morning, i sat on my bedroom floor and meditated, focusing on my breath. it went very well, though at one stage my back was hurting quite badly but i chose to persevere and kept drawing my focus back to my breath. to emphasise my new commitment, i chose to base my art for today around meditation......the Buddha, candle, lotus flower, chakras and the symbol 'he' which stands for harmony, all symbols of peace, tranquility and balance.

blessings to all ~

  1. hey Serena, sorry you are not feeling well. I love this post.. with your meditating and sore back: if you are sitting on the floor in the yoga position, try putting a small pillow under your bottom to tilt the pelvis forward and if your knees are up off the ground, get some blankets to place under them to support them
if you are lying on the ground always make sure there is a small pillow under your knees.

have a wonderful sleep & 'see' you tomorrow xo

  2. Isn’t it interesting how a certain activity can make us feeling more aware to our surrounding? I think your decision not to over commit is very wise. I’m sure it’s not an easy thing to do especially when there are other interesting things. I’m sorry to hear that your back hurt you during the meditation. I hope each day bring more comfort and ease on the things you set to do. I’m so proud of you, Serena :)

  3. Beautiful! What a great commitment, I may do that as well since I have been running around like crazy for so long. Meditation brings so much with it, healing and inspiration. Thank you so much for your kind words and I hope that this Soul Coaching process also brings you much joy and healing too. :)

  6. I relate to wanting to choose more than one commitment, the more blogs with great commitments that more I want to add! But certainly this is a way of ensuring failure.

Good luck with your meditation goal!

  8. Fantastic artwork. It would make a great mandala for you to use this month while you meditate each day. I am with you on the baby steps.

  9. Serena I am sorry that I gave you my cold. I didn't realize it could travel that far. :( Feel better!! Make a soup of whatever you want and put cayenne pepper in it. That will help your cold go away faster.

Congrats on the meditation- I find that meditation is like a drug- once you start feeling the effects you always want to do it. The cool thing is that the effects are cumulative and you'll really notice it over time.

Sometimes I use guided meditations, sometimes I don't. Depends what I want to get out of the meditation. If you are interested I can send you some of my absolute favorite meditations. :)

  10. Your beautiful drawing goes along perfect with your Soul Coaching - meditation - ideas of oneness...symbols..etc.

I am looking forward to hopping over here every morning to see what you are doing? I'm glad you stuck with it and breathed through the back pain...

The drawing is beautiful!! I have an affinity for anything Asian in artwork!

  14. I hope your back gets better soon! I have been so intrigued by this soul coaching that I ordered the book and the deck of cards! Won't get it for a while, tho--so maybe will plan to experience it on my own in January for the new year. Love hearing about your journey and seeing your artwork from your journal. :)

  16. Serena, I hope with every breath you feel healthier!

I can relate totally to your post. We are trained to be so hard on ourselves. We would never dream of putting that much pressure on someone else. "Take your time," we'll say to others. We need to start saying this to ourselves too.

  17. Hi Serena,

I love you picture and i am inspired by it.

Yes its seems that your awareness is a meditation in itself conscious creating is a form of meditation.

  21. Wonderful piece of art related to your commitment. I've read on many blogs that fear of over-committing and getting nowhere. I have that fear myself. I am beginning to think that baby steps are the way to go!

  22. Loooove your meditation drawing! My choice was also to meditate each day. It's funny how much my inner self craves it, and how much my back and hips protest it when I try sitting meditations. Recently, I've tried laying flat on my back, but with my legs up in the air propped flat against a wall. Prevents me from falling asleep, but also give support so I don't hurt quite so much. Lots of miracles to you!

  24. I love your drawings on meditation. I feel so good even with 10 minutes of meditation yet I don't stick to it. Really need to get in the habit. The day flows so much better. And baby steps is another thing I have to remember.
