happiness, friendship and money......

some years ago i took up an interest in 'feng shui' and, though i am not as pedantic about it as i used to be, i still enjoy the 'good luck' plants. tending to my potted plants always makes me feel happy and grounded.

my 'dracaena massangeana' - commonly known as a happy plant

i've always loved dracaena plants and this one was given to me by my son, beau. it stands in the front entry and, for me, symbolises the happiness within my home. i love the contrast of the purple plant pot and orange vase.

my 'crassula ovata' - jade - commonly known as the money plant, dollar plant and, in some areas, the friendship plant.....not to be confused with the 'Portulacaria afra' - dwarf jade.

julie asked me the other day if the 'baby' of my aeonium green rose could possibly be a different plant and i have to admit that the baby does look suspiciously like my money plant, however, i'd be totally stumped at how it managed to find it's way into the aeonium green rose pot which sits up on a much higher shelf. time will tell, i guess.

  1. Beautiful plants Serena, I would be happy if I could grow just one. We'll have to see how the mystery of the baby turns out, it would be funny if it was from the money plant.

  3. As I read your post, I was inspired! I have not kept any plants in the house because for some reason I seem to murder them. But I will try again! Who can't use a money tree? :)

  5. The money plant can make a very good bonsai tree if they are pruned back right! with one single trunk

  6. Plants make a home feel so much warmer, don't they? And they help purify your air, too--hehe! Now you have us all wondering about your baby plant. You'll have to show pictures as it grows and we can all discover who the parent is--ROFL! :):)

  14. I have a lot of jade plants in my front yard, they do great out here and handle the rare freeze fine. My green rose plant or that's what I'll now call it, is a totally different plant and it looks just like the one you showed. I'll have to post a pic of it some day...

love the purple pot with the orange in the background.
