i shine my light brightly

i wasn't feeling too well yesterday hence my affirmation card and photo for the week being a day late this week. i woke up this morning with my throat on fire. it hurt to swallow and i also lost my voice....well, i could talk to some degree but listening to chalk screeching on a blackboard would have been more pleasing to the ears.

MANTRA MONDAY

i shine my light brightly and bask in its warmth and glow. even in dark times, i have the choice to focus on shining my light brightly from within because i know this will help the dark times to pass more quickly.

PHOTO A WEEK MONDAY

due to being cooped up inside this past week because of all the rain and flooding in brisbane, i really don't have too much to show for my photo this week. i did feel in the mood to do some decorating in my room so i put this tarnished silver tray together with some coloured glass bottles and some shells.

NEWSFLASH - i've started KNITTING!!!
i felt inspired when i came across this post over on rhonda jean's blog. so i've started knitting squares which will eventually become a bed rug. of course, there is no way it will be finished for this winter considering our winter begins on june 1st but....just maybe....i will have it finished for next winter. i haven't knitted for something like ten years so it feels good to be back in the saddle again. maybe you would like to knit-along too?!

LOVE, LIGHT AND PEACE

  1. sorry to hear your throat is so bad... a blue lace agate placed on the throat may help as well as an infusion of Thyme, honey and some black pepper.. sounds awful but does the trick..
that is a lovely mantra.. will remember it on those dark of the Moon days..
    get better soon! xo

  4. I just love the way you painted the candle on your mantra card--it just glows!

I haven't knitted for many, many years, either. That's such a winter thing to do, isn't it? My winter doesn't arrive for a good 4-5 months--but I will keep this blanket square idea in the back of my head. I could never knit to size--but this looks simple enough that even I couldn't mess it up too much--hehe! :):) Have fun! And I hope you are feeling better.

  10. Sure hope your throat is feeling better. Warm tea and honey!

I like to knit although about the only thing I can do is something like a scarf ....no shaping required! Love the blue you're using.

PS - your light always shines bright!

  21. Thanks for that, Robyn...I'm always interested in the old remedies so will give this a try. :)

    Thanks, Sue ~ :)

Thanks, Genie....I love my bottle display too. It's amazing what can be thrown together from things we already have to give a fresh, new look ~ :)

Thanks, Rita. Yes, knitting is definitely a winter thing. It gets way too hot in our summer to even think about knitting though I'm sure there are those who do ~ :)

Thanks for dropping by, Clare ~ :)

Thanks for the well wishes and compliment, Maria ~ :)

Thanks, Mary. It would be great if you got back into some knitting. I agree, knitting squares is easy and relaxing ~ :)

    Thank you, Tabitha ~ :)

Thanks, Breedale. I am thoroughly enjoying the knitting experience after so long away from it ~ :)

Thanks, Janet. I like the teal blue too...it's a perfect match for purple/lavender and green accessories ~ :)

Thanks so much for your caring words, Norma. The lemon and honey drinks do seem to be soothing the throat ~ :)

  22. Thanks, Caroline....I'm feeling a little better with each new day.

Thanks, Shashi. :) I've read on other blogs where they are still working on bed blankets after years so maybe I was a little too presumptious in thinking I may actually finish it for next winter. lol

Thanks, my sweet Shelly ~ :)

Thanks so much, James. I still plan on talking more about the emotional guidance system when I'm feeling better so stay tuned ~ :)

Thanks, KerryAnne...Cody is spoiled rotten and he knows it ~ :)

    Thanks, Brandi ~ :)

Thanks, Boho Mom....I agree, knitting does take some patience to get to the end product ~ :)

Thanks, Vee. :) It's that time of year when all the flu/cold bugs are getting about and, having a 10 year old at school, is the perfect environment for spreading the germs. Aaron just brings them all home with him and shares the bugs with the rest of the household. There seems to be a Swine Flu panic going on in Queensland at the moment due to a cruise ship dropping off infected passengers. Hopefully, swine flu steers clear of Aaron's school ~

  23. Love the photo of your tray of shells and bottles. I have a copper tray full of shells and starfish in my dining room- love the simplicity and naturalness.

I hope you feel better soon. Hope you don't have the flu. Take care of yourself and rest, Serena.

  24. Hi Serena, I just love to see each week what the next card will be like. Sorry you don't feel so well but that will pass and you'll be good as new. Glad to see you're knitting again. I keep knitting sweaters and summer tops and they're piling up in the corner of my living room for one of those marathon "stitch them all together so I can finally wear them" weeks. Ro ;o))
