Mission Monday note to self...and my word for 2010

I'm so behind on my Mission Mondays but thank the stars Brandi puts no pressure on us. A couple of weeks ago, Brandi posted this mission for us to take on if we chose to and, immediately, I knew it was for me. A simple but effective mission which was to say what we would like to say to ourselves. The pic above pretty much sums it up for me. My mind is always racing away with ideas for my art or other activities but, more often than not, that's as far as those ideas get and they end up lost in my memory somewhere. Fear of stuffing things up or finding the time to complete my ideas are two of my most common excuses which...

...brings me to my word for 2010 - just DO!
Nothing fancy but I'm hoping this word will encourage me to stop procrastinating and just DO! I will be placing this word, and the phrase in the pic, at various spots around the house so I am constantly reminded to take action. As timing would have it, I received an email only yesterday featuring a post by Alyson B. Stanfield on....devoting 15 minutes a day to check in with your art. You can read her post here. Instead of thinking in whole project terms, working in 15 minutes increments sounds do-able and a lot less daunting so, each day I will try to meet this commitment in one form or another. Wish me luck ~

Love, light and peace

  1. Simple but great word choice Serena. It seems like all of this would work for me too, I may have to try to give myself the same advice! :) Off to check out those links... thanks for sharing!

  3. That's why I have so many works in progress. When i get an idea, if I don't at least start it, I forget what my idea was. I could write my ideas on a list, but for some reason I feel a compulsion to start it, even if I don't finish it for a year or more. Some things I've learned to just accept about myself-LOL

  4. Reading this was like peeking into my own brain! I have so many ideas swirling around and very few of them ever see the light of day! You picked a great word....one I should also heed.

  6. reminds me of a saying: 'spend 15mins nourishing your dream, because if you don't it will never have a chance to survive'....

I am trying to spend 20mins, twice a day sitting in contemplative prayer..

  8. That's a great word for 2010! I want to get more things done on my goal list this year, too. Writing them down helps me to focus (or should I say re-focus--hehe!) over the loooong year. You picked a great motivational word. I can hardly wait to see what all you will "do"!! :)

  11. I wish I had fifteen minutes to work on something artsy right now! :(
But I would have to go through at least 80+ boxes to find something. :(
That's the pleasure of moving! NOT!!!

  13. I guess we should pretend we are millionaires and can only spend an hour on each project or thing during the day. That might make my day more interesting. I need to follow your advice.

Thanks for your visit and info on IE8

  14. Yes! Just take baby steps. It doesn't seem overwhelming to do just a little. Often once you get started it'll lead to longer than 15 minute session. It's that first step that's hardest.
Much love and luck to you.

  15. Great word for 2010. I DO wish you luck. BTW, I am often a week or two behind on the missions, but that's okay. It's meant to be joyful, not a chore. Yay!

  16. Good luck, though I don't know how much help I'll be, as I'm terribly good at procrastinating myself....
