Sick but still hooking....

hi everyone

i've been sick with flu and am now dealing with persistent coughing asthma. :(
i have a doctor's appointment lined up for tomorrow to check blood results but to also see if i need antibiotics to help me beat this thing.  i'll be so happy when i can breathe normally again.

i've had no urge to sketch or paint but i have been hooking some crochet projects in front of the TV

i recently finished making this white crochet jacket for my granddaughter, mikayla

i made matching bootees but didn't get a pic

i also hooked a crochet bed throw for aaron

he loves it

and look who is sitting up now! YAY!

it makes me feel warm inside seeing all the cot bedding i made set up in mikayla's cot

the mornings and nights have been cold with winter officially here now. Brrrrrrr!  i've been making hot porridge for breakfast every day.  the kids love it.

lately, i've been reading in bed each night so expect some book reviews in future posts.

i think i'll be heading straight to bed after criminal minds tonight.
last week, we saw special agent, emily prentiss, leave the series in a dramatic way.
i wonder who they will bring in to replace her?

~ love, light and peace ~

  1. So sorry you guys have had the flu and that you're still feeling punkish. I hope the doctor has something positive to say.

That is the most darling sweater!!! It is just lovely! And so delicate. You do awesome crochet work, Serena! Aaron's throw fits hit color scheme perfectly, too.

Mikayla's crib bumper, blanket, and pillow look so bright and cheery! And she's sitting up!! What a happy girl!

I hope you are feeling better soon! That has to be so draining on you. Take care and let us know how you are doing.
    *hugs*

  3. Mikayla is so beautiful. I can't believe how much time has passed. I've not been making/crocheting anything lately. Still working til the 14th and then I will have time. woohoo! Serena, I don't know how you cannot like fudge. Maybe they don't know how to make it where you are. :) I only make fudge a few times a year and when I do, I hide it from the kids so that I can savor it. Yum, yum, double yum! It's the only regular chocolate I like, besides Hershey's Kisses -- otherwise, I only eat dark chocolate. Hope you are having a beautiful day. Tammy

  4. Your photos and work are gorgeous, Serena! So much color and good energy. I so wish I could crochet. Right now I'm working on a prayer shawl for myself and it's coming along nicely. I hope you'll be breathing better soon.

Also, reading in bed at night is the BEST!!

  5. I'm sorry you're not feeling so good. I hope the doctor can help you.

The little jacket is so pretty. I bet Mikayla looks cute wearing it. She looks cute no matter what! Just look how cute she looks sitting up all on her own. In a few blinks of the eye she will be walking!

Love the crocheted coat for Mikayla. It is adorable and so well made. The throw is lovely too. Mikayla is already sitting! God bless her. She looks so cute. Give her and Michelle a warm hug from me! :)
The bedding that you made for Mikayla looks lovely!

    Take good care my friend.

  7. Hi Serena,
    Lovely crocheted jacket and blanket.
Oh, I'd love to learn crocheting in my spare time.
Don't feel quilty about not painting or drawing~we all go through these stages and I'm thinking winter also brings on those feelings.
    Stay warm & cozy,
    Hugs,
    Anna

  9. Sending you extra strong healing thoughts and vibes.

Such neat and consistent stitches! My crochet looks nothing like that - fit only for the cat I'm afraid.

Such a gorgeous girl in her colourful cot - you must be so proud.

Off to bed, read away, and get well soon,

    Cheers,

    Cindy

  13. I am so sorry your flu has gone into asthma! Mine always goes to my lungs as well, when I get a cold or flu! Drink plenty of hot tea...helps to open up lungs. Sometimes, you might need an antibiotic...starts out viral, but changes to bacterial. Definitely check in with MD! Hope you are feeling better soon, Serena!

Mikayla is a doll, sitting up there on her super fantastic bedding!!! She is really growing up fast, already!!!
