Day 6 - AEDM & Nablopomo - Magpie

It was a busy day.
I went with Michelle to her antenatal appointment.
Then, we went shopping afterwards
and I was back home in time to fix
Bradley a late lunch.

I sorted my Woollies grocery order online
for delivery tomorrow.

Then, around 4:30pm,
we noticed a couple of helicopters hanging around our area.
At one point, one was hovering above our house.
Police cars went back and forth a few times and
I heard the police dog squad was out in force too.
I checked the Queensland Police Facebook page and,
apparently, a woman had been stabbed in a neighbouring suburb.
The perpetrator ran into bushland and made his way through the bush
closer to our area.
Some time later, the helicopters moved on,
so I'm assuming they must have caught the guy.
Quite scary being so close to home.

-----------------------------------------------------

Each day of late, we've had a family of magpies visiting
twice a day and doing what they do best....
demand food!
Their baby sure can squawk loudly.
SO cute!

This prompted a very quick, rough sketch of a magpie.
I'm not happy with it but, quite frankly,
I'm too tired to care.

  1. Scary to have such violent crime so close to home. I'm glad they caught the perpetrator.

I love your pen and ink sketches and how you capture your thoughts on the same page.

  3. Having violent crime so close to home is scary. I'm glad they caught the guy, and that you're safe.

I think the bird looks like a book illustration so I'm not sure why you don't like it.

  4. Your magpie illustration is wonderful. Maybe after a good nights rest you'll look back on it and see what a wonderful illustration it is.

I know how scary it is to have a violent crime so close. A few years back a man shot and killed his wife and then himself and this was only two doors down from where I live. Fortunately it is a rare occurrence.

  5. You're right: demanding food is what magpies do best! :) My home has also recently been invaded by the noisy birds. Do they try to steal the dogfood right out of the bowls at feeding time?

  6. It is very unnerving to have violent crime happen so close to home. I've found that the best security system is prayer :)

  7. we haven't had many magpies this year but I think it is because a group of kookaburras have taken up resident... and saw that stabbing on the news... glad they found him and that your neighbourhood is safe... yikes it was a bit close I am sure....xx
