I'm back!!

It's been a busy January so far!
It's also been unbearably hot and humid.
I can handle the heat but
I don't cope well in high humidity as it causes my arthritis
to flare up and, with it, comes lots of pain.

Australia's temperatures are rising.
So much so, that they had to add another colour
to our temperature map recently.

For numerous reasons, I gave myself an impromptu blogging break
and, while I didn't get too much sketching done, I did get some art done.
I'll post about it over the next week to avoid this post being over-long.

For today, my salt lamp!

Beau (#2 son) turned out to be my secret Santa in the Christmas family gift exchange
and he and Steven bought me a Himalayan rock salt lamp.

I love it!

I have it on my bedside table.
I was surprised at how heavy salt lamps are!

Here it is turned on during the day time.

And at night-time.

It gives off a beautiful warm and tranquil glow.
Just perfect for meditation!
These lamps act like ionisers and also correct imbalances in a room.

Himalayan Rock Salt lamps are made from chunks of crystal salt
taken from deep within the Himalayan mountains.

And, of course, I sketched it too.
Pencil-free sketch in A5 Holcroft sketchbook
using ZIG Millennium pen, PITT pens and watercolours.

Another sketch I did of my green Buddha.
Pencil-free sketch in A6 Moleskine sketchbook using ZIG and Stabilo Point 88 pens.

And that about sums up this post.

I hope you are all enjoying a beautiful January.
If you're in the cooler regions,
PLEASE send some cold my way.

~ Love, light and peace ~

    1. Thanks, Gloria! I have missed visiting blogs and hope to be over soon to visit your blog. My arthritis seems to do a little better in our winter months but, bear in mind, our winters are very mild. Our lowest temps don't go below 41°F. :)

  5. Sorry I cant send you any cool weather either, hot hot hot here too!

I love your lamp yes it does give off a really nice glow. I was given a piece of salt which looks like your lamp a bit and I know they make lamps with it too, and it was from Poland where they mine salt too in a town called Wieliczka. My dh went there and bought it back for me and I have it in our room and yes it does for some reason make me feel good too!

    love your sketches, as always!

    1. Salt is a natural antiseptic and cleanser so I can see how it would make the atmosphere of a room feel better thereby making us feel better. How cool that you have a piece from Wieliczka!

    1. Serena - just remembered that in wieliczka they say that the salt is very good for breathing and for the lungs. I know when I feel a little chesty I get my salt rock into the room, and while its in the room I feel it does my lungs good too!

In Wieliczka there is a sanatorium there deep underground too! its an amazing place.

  11. Where I live, it's supposed to be cold but each year the winters get milder. what I wouldn't do for a big snow storm...just one at least. I could kick myself for letting my son sell a salt lamp years ago at a yard sale. We never used it but seeing one again makes me wish we didn't part with it. I'm with you about high temps...hope you find some coolness soon!

    1. I know what you mean, Jane. We barely have winters at all any more compared to what it was like when I was growing up. They say to leave the lamps on as often as possible to get the best results. We ended up having some rain this morning which helped keep the temps down for today. :)

  12. Oh, I am so excited to see the rock salt lamp with the lights on and off. That has a much brighter glow than my rose quartz candle lamp. I love it!! Awesome!

  13. Oh my, that sounds awful! Everything above 20 degrees is already getting too hot for me, and humidity makes me feel like a dead fly, and I'm so glad we've got cold and snow here. I hope it's getting cooler soon, and your arthritis better! Absolutely love your sketches, especially the one of your new salt lamp - with the added colours, it's positively glowing from the page!
