My favourite cereals and cupcake heaven.

I'm finally finding time for some sketching
albeit a very quick sketch.

"What's in the pantry?"

Pencil-free sketch in A5 Holcroft sketch diary using

Now I am off to bake some delicious vegan Coconut Heaven cupcakes.
I made a double batch a couple of weeks ago
'cos they are THAT good!
Needless to say, they didn't last long at all.

I used the recipe from this book

  4. Haven't seen that cereal before -- of course, regular shredded wheat we have. I don't buy the frosted ones because it's just filled with extra stuff that is so unnecessary. When I buy cereal, I look for a very short ingredient list and less than 10 grams of sugar. My favorites are Cheerios and Special K (which I top with dried cranberries or frozen blueberries, walnuts or pecans, cinnamon -- very yummy! Oatmeal is another favorite, topped with the same sort of extras. :) Your drawing is fantastic. Mmmm-mmmm those cupcakes sound delightful. Best wishes, Tammy

    1. Thanks, Tammy. :) I'm not sure if we can get the plain shredded wheat any more but the mini-wheats were recommended to Bradley by his dietician. The fruit paste in mini-wheats is made up of sultanas, dates, blackcurrant and pear juice. It doesn't have added sugar and shows 6.4 grams of sugar (from the fruits) per serve. I don't think I've ever tried Special K as I'm not a huge cereal fan, however, with Krissie mentioning it too, I may well give it a go. LOVE English-style porridge!

  6. Wow, what a terrific sketch Serena! How I wish I knew how to sketch. Do they have classes for your type of sketching. There are so many great artists in blogland that sketch so great and you are one of them. I love oatmeal, cream of wheat, rather than cereal. Great job and those cupcakes look delish. Have a great day, and hope you are doing well. Take care.

    1. Thanks, Gloria. Yes, I'm sure there are online classes that would help. Alisa Burke has some great beginner classes. Her Sketchbook Delight classes are wonderful to get you started.

    1. Thanks, Aranthe. The mini-wheats are a fairly healthy option as long as no extra sugar was added.

  16. Great drawing and beautiful fresh color. I love cocnut, but have only had one or two things that are gluten free and they tasted really good but different texture. Do you use rice flour? That would be nice and light!

    1. Thanks, Gloria. :) Vegans do not consume, or use, any animals products or their by-products such as dairy and eggs. So wheat products are fine and, for these cup-cakes, I just used regular flour. :)
