Day 4 of AEDM - Hooking again

No painting today.

No sketching today.

I did some hooking instead....

Yes, crochet does fit into the creativity guidelines for AEDM. YAY!

I have made four of these gorgeous ripple blankets over the past three years.
One for each of my two granddaughters
one for Aaron (#4 son)
and one for my lounge room.

This lovely will probably end up in my lounge room too
as you can never have too many blankets to snuggle under
while watching TV or movies in winter.

I started this blanket earlier this year
and there's still quite a bit to go.
I like to make them big!
I'm not even at the halfway mark yet
but there's no rush with winter
being another eight months away.

  2. I love crochet as well. I generally do it in winter, which as you say has just finished. But perhaps you have inspired me as it is still stitching. Where in QLD are you? My siblings all live up on the sunshine coast.

    1. I seem to have crocheted quite a lot over the past three years. I've made little jackets and also knitted lots of bootees for my Granddaughters. I live in the southern suburbs of Brisbane. The sunny coast is gorgeous! My son-in-law's Mum lives near Nambour. :)

    1. Thanks, Anoeska. I like to keep my hands busy when I'm watching TV. I find crochet is a fairly fast project compared to knitting which is probably why I love it so much.

  4. I have been looking at your AEDM features but you know I love your crochet! that is a huge blanket and the time it takes to make, wow-- great pattern with the wavy ripple.
I am doing AEDM too just not posting each day. I will probably do a post once a week with the progress on my project.
Anyway, great to visit and see your beautiful work
    Much love,
    Dawn

    1. Hi Dawn!

Lovely to see you! You are a master when it comes to crochet and knitting. If I worked at it each day, I can usually have one of these finished in just over two months, however, I've been slow with this one because I haven't got a deadline. With previous ones, I had to finish them in time for a new granddaughter's arrival into the world. :) So happy to hear you're doing AEDM!!

Love and hugs to you. xo

  7. Oh, Serena - the colors are so enriching. My children and I love snuggling under blankets during the winter, especially watching ridiculously sappy... the more the better in my book. My friend gave me a quilt rack to DIY recently... which reminds me, perhaps that can be a functional art piece to work on for AEDM! Have a grand Monday!!

    1. Thanks, Julie, and yes, I LOVE these blankets in winter and, during summer, they adorn the couch as decoration. Quilting would be a perfect creative adventure for AEDM. I say GO FOR IT! :)

  10. I can't possibly imagine how large that beautiful blanket will be when finished. I'm sure it will be worthy of snuggling under, though. Really enjoyed the colors you chose, too. I also love how, as we in the States are heading toward autumn, you are heading into spring. It is great to see how the other half of the world sees this time of year.

    1. These blankets would fit a double bed quite comfortably. They are so cosy and warm. Yep, we're like opposites when it comes to seasons. We're currently in spring heading towards summer which officially starts on December 1st. Not looking forward to the dreadful heat and high humidity.

    1. It's quite an easy pattern to pick up....it's just a matter of decreasing or increasing in the same spots on each row. :)

  16. Wow! It looks huge already. I've never done a ripple because of the increase/decrease. I never count right and could likely have crashing waves rather than a lovely ripple. Ha! I see you are in instragram. Going to check you out now. Hugs and blessings, Tammy

    1. Thanks, Tammy. Increase and decrease in crochet is so easy....check out YouTube for some helpful videos if you aren't sure. It's easy enough to just see where you need to do either so I'm sure you would get the hang of it quite easily. YES....haven't put much on Instagram yet. :)

  18. So beautiful and you are so quick with it - reminds me to get mine back out - I had downloaded the edging for mine and need to figure that one out and get on with the next one! I consider this right in there with the entire CREATIVITY thing...too!
