Merry Christmas to all

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas.

As my regular readers know, my eldest son and I are members of the Mater Hospital Sing for Health choir which recently gave two Christmas performances on December 21st. I thought you might like to see some of the footage taken of us singing. Our choir is made up of Mater staff, patients, and volunteers who come together twice a year to perform in the Mater Mothers Hospital foyer. We are not professionals by any means but we have a lot of fun and have become like a big, happy family. It's known that singing helps to promote a sense of well being and our intent is to spread peace, love, and joy at the hospital. This year we also did a Flash Mob performance beside the Hudsons cafe which provides indoor and outdoor dining and is situated on the ground floor. The cafe faces onto Stanley Street which is always heavy with traffic throughout the day. We were all a little nervous as we'd never done a Flash Mob before but it all came together and we had a lot of fun.

This video is of the first song in our flash mob performance but, unfortunately, it's missing the very start of the song. We also sang White Christmas but, as yet, there is no video uploaded on YouTube.

Bradley and I are already looking forward to getting together again mid-2017 for another performance with the choir.

On another note,  Christmas is a bittersweet time of year for vegans as we see the high cost that other sentient beings pay for the human festivities. My thoughts are with those animals today and I pray that, one day, times will change where people make kinder choices.

Personally, this is the only way I would have a turkey for Christmas dinner

Edgar's Mission is one of the sanctuaries I support so, in light of their most recent rescue, I thought it fitting to share their video here too. Such a beautiful rescue.

Love, Light, and Peace to all and may you stay safe this holiday season.

  1. Merry Christmas, Serena. Thanks for sharing your holiday caroling with us. So fun and festive! It's great that Vodaphone is promoting a vegan holiday meal. That certainly wouldn't happen here. Love the Edgar's Mission video. All mamas love their babies and want to care for them. So amazing how she calls to them and they come out of the carrier. Now she can rest knowing that she is safe and cared for. Bless all those who care for the creatures of this world.

    1. I was surprised too that a company would promote veganism but I think it's great. I'm not sure that it was Australian, given the snow, but it could have originated in the UK. Edgar's Mission does some amazing work in rescuing farm animals. Seeing Carol with her babies made my heart melt.

I hope you had a lovely Christmas. xo

    1. Thanks, Christine. I painted that card back in 2012, I think, and it has come in very handy since.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas. :)

  4. I'm a vegetarian, and no living things were harmed in the making of my Christmas dinner. I regrettably can't say the same for the rest of my family, but I only have control over my own choices. As much as I'd love the rest of my family to be vegetarians too, the choice has to be theirs to make, and it's not one I'm going to force upon them.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the videeos... I'm glad it all went well, and sure you brought joy to the hearts of all who heard you. Merry Christmas!

    1. Vegetarians certainly cause less harm than meat-eaters, but sadly, the dairy industry is one of the cruelest industries for the animals. I won't go into the gory details but you may like to do a little research to see what truly goes on. The general public are deliberately kept unaware.

I totally agree that it must be the individual's choice. I have never forced my vegetarian/vegan food choices onto my kids. However, had I been vegetarian/vegan when I first had children, I would have raised them accordingly. I'm happy to say that two of my sons became vegan of their own choosing after doing their own research.

I'm glad you enjoyed the choir videos. It was definitely a fun day and we got a lot of great feedback.

I hope you had a lovely Christmas, Tori. xo

  6. I know there are plenty of reasons to become fully vegan, and all of them are valid reasons. Unfortunately, since I live in an area where getting vegan alternatives to dairy products is difficult at the best of times, and impossible most of the time, I don't feel it's something I can do at this time in my life. I do limit my dairy intake, however, and buy the vegan alternatives whenever I actually can get hold of them.

Anyway, yes, thanks, I did have a good Christmas.
