Last night, I sketched this week's EDM challenge which was to sketch your favourite bird.

On another note, I finished the Frangipani painting for my sister's birthday which is today. Happy Birthday, sis! I will see her later today but I'm taking the chance in posting this now because I know she will be busy enough today so won't have time to get online.

Hey Serena,
You already know I love the painting, and once again you've done a great job of a challenge. The wrens really are sweet little birds. We get them flying through the yard and singing their pretty little song...Great job...Ro

One reason I love your blog is that it gives me a peek at Australia. Here in Wisconsin we have wrens, but different. That drawing captures the birds as wrens, wee, skittish, perky. Do you have hummingbirds? I love those too.

Oh! Your wrens ARE so darn cute! I can see why you love them. Great sketch of the birds, and the frangipani. I'm sure your sister was thrilled with her birthday present. It's just beautiful.

Thank you all for the lovely comments ~ :)

Thanks, Andrea. The Fairy Wren is only found on the Eastern side of Australia which is probably why you haven't heard of them before.

Glad you enjoy my blog, Sherry. I'm not sure but I don't think we have Hummingbirds in Australia...well, not in my area anyways. I do enjoy pictures of Hummingbirds though.

Hey Serena, I absolutely love plumeria (what we call frangipani here)! You've captured their delicate form so well. It seems like I can smell them from here! Your sister will be thrilled!

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment, Joan. I gave the painting to my sister yesterday and she loved it! :)

That painting is just gorgeous...what a beautiful gift that will be treasured for decades. Did you post it on WC?

You asked about Sofrito...it's in the Spanish section at the grocery store...it's a soup/sauce/cooking base made from tomato, garlic, and a bunch of herbs. You can make it yourself, which is most probably better than buying it, but I haven't got the time.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, stapeliad, and no, I haven't posted it on WC....I really need to pop over to WC as I haven't been there in a while.

Thanks for the info on Sofrito...will check it out ~ :)
