EDM Challenge #10 - Draw your hand or someone else's.
I'm pleased to say that, today, I managed to get another EDM challenge out of the way. My own hand was the obvious choice for me so I sat at my desk, left hand posed, and put graphite to paper with the right. I don't bite my nails but it is winter DownUnder so my nails have become quite brittle and break easily. I was tempted to give them all that beautifully manicured look with freshly painted long nails but I resisted. One day I'm going to treat myself to a professional manicure with false nails to boot! I've never had false nails before so one day I'm gonna do it! I honestly marvel at how women with exceptionally long nails manage to get things done....surely those long talons would get in the way???

EXCELLENT, Serena!! Shading is incredible!
Serena, I've enjoyed the comments you left on my blog, but had never visited yours. Your drawing of your hands is lovely, and I especially like the way you use shading to make the drawing pop. Hands are tricky to do convincingly; you have done well.
Nice work on this. I like what you've done with details on some spots and letting them out on other places...
Your drawing of your hand is wonderful! Great line and shading.
Chris
Ooo! You're hand is exquisit! I'm so happy you didn't give yourself perfect nails. It's so beautiful like this.
Oh, and btw, I love the drawing of your yellow bucket and the story that goes with it. It's such a humble object, but you've made it shine with its true stature.
I love all your artwork! You do such a nice job on shading, too. Always like to see what you have done--even the yellow bucket--hehe!
Always, Rita
Very impressive...I have no abilities in this area whatsoever! You are very talented!
Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my latest EDM challenge. I'm so appreciative when people take the time to leave a comment.
Hey! nice work. I especially like the kookaburra! Thanks for checking out my blog too. I'm really impressed with your goal of donating 10% to the welfare of animals. Good luck with this... it's a wonderful idea.
Bec
Thanks, Bec! :) I hope to make a difference to the welfare of animals even if it's only in a small way.
Oh Serena, you can really make a pencil sing!! - Barbara
Wonderful job on your hand! The shading and shape are just great!! And, another EDM challenge done! That feels so good doesn't it?!
Such beautiful and delicate lines! The hands I do are always overworked, but this is wonderful. Just the right amount of shading and the shadows are perfect. Well done!
What a wonderful drawing, really fantastic! I used to think fake nails were not for me, but what I really like are the acrylic nails where you don't use tips. Then I file them so that they are not too long. What I like is that they are rock hard, it's so nice because my nails used to always chip and split and break. I don't like the acrylic on top of tips though, that makes a nail that is too thick to do anything with (like open a can of pepsi). But acrylic without tips, I love that. :)
This is an amazing sketch, Serena. Great job.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments....much appreciated ~
beautiful work on this hand sketch! I enjoyed browsing through your other drawings on your blog too. Cute puppy!
Thanks, Mary ~ :)
What exquisite graphite work, Serena! your shading is perfect...so are your nails!
Ronell
Thanks, Ronell....glad you dropped by ~ :)
You did a really nice job with this!!!
*LOVE* the fingernails!
Thank you, stapeliad ~ :)
That's a beautiful hand and nicely drawn. The shadows help too. My hands are now showing their age - where did the wrinkles come from and the age spots!

Thanks for the lovely compliment, Wendy ~ :)
I'm having trouble with painting hands at this very moment. My first attempt at painting them, so I truly appreciate your lovely work here. I'm envious :)
