EDM challenge # 9 was to draw Organised Chaos - Today was overcast with the hope of rain that never came, however, I did find time to sit with my sketchbook and draw the part of my lounge room that, at the moment, is in organised chaos. As most of you know we have to move soon so, earlier in the week, I started some packing. I'm using a corner of my lounge room to neatly store the boxes which mainly contain books, video cassettes and breakables from the rosewood cabinet standing behind the couch. I did a graphite sketch first and then emphasised lines and shading with a black ball-point pen.
EDM challenge #2 was to draw a lamp - This is my bedside lamp which has a ceramic stand and a fabric light-shade. Originally, it was white but I soon changed that. My room is based on a sea-theme so the blues work in very well. I drew this yesterday afternoon using graphite to lightly draw the shape and then I worked with Derwent Coloured Pencils from there.

Love your sketches! The shading on the lamp is terrific and the "chaos" sketch is great graphite work! Love how you combined the graphite and the ink. I recently found my graphite pencils from when I was a kid and just can't get used to them again! Ink is my friend now! May try combining like you have! Thanks for sharing!
Pretty lamp, and I had to laugh at your organized chaos which is everyone's favorite chore when moving. Very nice sketches, and two challenges completed!

A lovely lamp and I love the corner of your lounge! those boxes are so well done and they contrast so ncely with the looser lived in feel of the cushions on the couch...great sketches!

How's the packing going? Great sketches Serena, that couch looks wonderfully soft and comfy :) Your sea-themed room sounds so soothing and zen - are you going with that again in your next place?
Thanks, Laura! The packing is coming along slowly but surely. I will keep my sea-themed room if the colour scheme in the next house works okay with it. The blues with the white furniture are indeed very soothing. I love it!
