Random Fact # 7

I found some spare time this afternoon to fit in a quick sketch so I decided to do Random Fact #7 which also doubles as an EDM challenge #60 - Draw an automobile.

I used to drive a (197?) VW Kombi automatic van......meet ROXY!!! I owned this baby for nine years and loved every minute of it! I liked the solid build, the spaciousness and the reliability. She was a beauty!

  9. Aaw this is really cute Serena and I've started a drawing of one in my Moleskine. Its out of my comfort zone but I hope to do as good a job as you. Love this.

Oh yes and it is a totally gorgeous vehicle.

  10. Fabulous drawing Serena.
It is my aim to purchase a similar vehicle when the kids have flown the nest, my partner and I intend to travel for 6 months of the year, me sketching and him catching our dinner...we talk about it often...I hope we manage to do this at least one summer.

  13. Love it. My Uncle had a van like this. He was a true Hippie as his wife and him traveled around in their van. I am thinking it was the same color but a little older model as they did this in the 60's.

    I just love your work.

  16. Serena, I love your blog. And what a great van Roxy must have been. I always thought it would be delightful to have a vw van. I had some friends that had one back in the 70's and traveled all across the country with it.

  19. Hi Serena, Forgive me I'm so far behind in my comments. I've been enjoying popping in for short visits and seeing what amazing drawing you have created next. Everything is just perfect...Ro

  20. Thanks, Ro, and no worries...I know you've been sick yourself and also busy so sometimes quick visits with no time to comment is all we can manage. It's appreciated regardless ~ :)

  21. Such a great sketch. I can never draw straight lines when I try to draw cars. I don't know what it is, but this sure is charming.
