zebra painting - work in progress - FINAL

WHOO HOO! i'm calling this finished. beau loves it so, as long as he is happy, that's the main thing. all that remains for me to do now is the varnishing. YAY! jessica, you will be pleased to know that there is even a hint of green in the foreground grasses though it doesn't show up too well in the pic. i think it does add a nice touch so thanks for the suggestion. thank you to all my loyal readers who have encouraged and supported me throughout the process.

Another book I just read and so enjoyed is "The painter from Shanghai" a novel by Jennifer Cody Epstein.
I quoted her in the post that you commented on my blog. I wrote to her as I was so moved by the book. We are now facebook friends.

Wow-this is amazing and such a warm picture. Not only warm in color but warm in the tenderness that the mother zebra is showing her baby.

It is just wonderful Serena.

I feel like I am on an African plain while gazing at this...about to turn and enter my tent for the night. Of course, there are no lions, elephants, or other scary creatures around to bother me...just sweet zebras! LOL :)

Oh, Serena! Beautiful! Your use of colors, shadows, and porportion is fabulous. Truly stunning. Have you thought of doing a calender with prints of your paintings?

Oh my!!!! This is one of the most beautiful and dramatic paintings I have ever seen. Really, I love that the point of view puts the viewer level with the animals...almost more with the baby zebra. The colors, plus the relationship ofthe 2 zebras and the space between them....plus of course the incredible colors! This is so amazing! They almost appear to be on a stage under theatre lights....as if to highlight the drama of the safari. Love the low lighting. I guess I cannot say enough about how much I love it.

Just found this painting due to Janet at Lavendar Loft pointing it out to me. Very nice. I like the contrast of the green very much too.

If you'd like to see some drawings from another self-taught artist come visit me at beadfluff.blogspot.com and enjoy my zebra. Mine is just copied from a small picture in a magazine however.

Thanks, Boyd! :)

Thanks, Mary ~ :) I checked out your zebra....very nice!

This is THE MOST beautiful zebra painting I have ever seen. My "animal" is zebra. I am even called Auntie Zebra and Gramma Zebra by the little ones in my family.

I have done many searches on google for zebra art.

I have never seen one this beautiful.....

I'm in love with your zebra painting.

Thanks for you wonderful compliment, Sandy! :)

Wow! I linked from Sandy....this is one very beautiful picture! I think that Zebra's are so fascinating. Are they black with white stripes or are they white with black stripes? I always ask that when I see a zebra. And I agree....the best zebra painting I've ever seen!
