i did try '52 weeks of me' back in 2009 but i only got as far as 19 self portraits.
you can check them out here.
so i figure i'm going to try again and, hopefully, this time i will reach 52...after all, it will be my 52nd birthday this year so that might be a good sign I can do it. lol
i think the self portrait project fits in well with my 'SELF' word for the year. i've never been a photogenic person plus i'm the one who usually blinks JUST as someone snaps a photo....at least, with self-portraits, i have a little more control. viewing myself from different perspectives may also help with my low self-esteem. i'm not going to choose a specific day so, be warned, i may pop up on your screen any time of the week.

This looks like FUN! And I think you've got your age wrong....dear!!
ReplyDeleteYou look GREAT!! I'll have to check out the portrait project, I so enjoy drawing people....must practice more though!! Happy New Year Serena :D
Love your self photos Serena, especially this one. Great job. Your moleskine journal is already looking good. I'm on page 3 of mine. Maybe next week I'll post some. I'm not very good at journaling but I am starting to enjoy a little. Have a great rest of the week. Look forward to your self photos. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI soooo disagree with your comment that you're not very photogenic! What a lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteYou're so pumped and full of enthusiasm...lets hope it's contagious and I catch some of it! I just need to stay home long enough to get somthing done...I'm away again for my dad's 95th birthday.
Wow Serena you have thrown yourself right into your work of Self..great..looking fab..go grannie go lol
ReplyDeleteHooray for self portraits!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!
:)
I am 2 years older than you and you look like a darn beauty queen! Low self esteem??? I can't even envision that...you are so talanted, smart, pretty and an awesome Mom and now Grandma too! No way...you are self confidant, and in charge!!!
ReplyDeletegood luck with the self portraits :) i would never in a million years think you were that old!
ReplyDeleteI think everybody thinks they are not photogenic and we all take bad photos but there are always plenty of good ones. The good photos come about when we are not "trying" and we just relax and say 'hey, this is me today'.
ReplyDeleteI loved doing 52 weeks mostly because I loth having my photo taken. When the control is in your hands it make quite the difference. I think it is a wonderful way to usher in your 52nd year of life.
You sound like you are prepared to enjoy this year!!! yay!
Peace~
Dawn
You go girl!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful self portrait! I don't know why you think you're not photogenic....you're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing the portraits you draw from flick photos. You really capture the people so perfectly.

Hi Serena,
ReplyDeleteGosh honey, you need to take a good look around. You look fabulous for nearly 52 yr old Grandma!
Oh why the low self esteem?
I hope you cheer up and look up soon.
Wow, your portrait of Mariah is fantastic.
I checked out the other portraits at the flicker thingy and you WIN!
Take it easy my friend,
Big hugs,
Anna
I love all the projects you have going on! Your self portrait is lovely as are the others in your previous series. Keep up all the wonderful creative work!
ReplyDeleteYOU? Unphotogenic!! No way, Lady! :):) I enjoyed all your self-portraits last year. Looking forward to these, too. Perfect companion to "self". And you sure don't look like a grandma--ROFL!! ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've had a great start to this new year. Love the colorful sketch journal! And glad to see you have been having more time to post again. Maybe life will be calmer this year? hehe! :)
You don't look old enough to be a Grandma!
ReplyDeleteYou are stunning!
ReplyDeleteDo you still have those headaches?
And were you affected at all by the flood?
I am the same way thinking I don't make good pictures of myself when someone takes a picture of me that is By the way your self portraits are Great as well as that drawing of the lady portrait you did so very wonderfully well too.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I love doing self portraits. Gorgeous. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteYou must be looking at a different person than the one I am looking at right now because you certainly do not look 52 and that is a lovely photo of you!
ReplyDeleteLove what you have done so far in your art journal. I need to get back into daily meditating..
I love your portrait too.
Lee:)
Happy New Year Serena! Great blog. Love your art journal and your “self”.
ReplyDeleteI heard floods were threatening Brisbaine..How are you all doing.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note Serena to ask how you are doing with all the flooding? I am hoping you are not in any of the affected areas and you and your family are safe! My prayers are with the people of Australia right now that this will be over soon and recovery can begin. Stay safe and take care Serena and let us know how you are doing when you have the chance.
ReplyDeleteTina xo
sounds like you're right on track! and I love seeing you POP out on the screen like that!
ReplyDeleteself portraits really is a pick-me-up thing to do....it creates more self awareness...and gives us a chance to focus on the positive! because yes, there certainly is positive to be seen! right!
