My workspace and my word for 2012

Prior to new year I bought a trestle table to use in the studio so this prompted some reorganisation.

I packed away all my acrylic paints which I had on those shelves now holding my sketchbooks. I figured that I haven't used my acrylics all that much since I've been mostly sketching.  However, if needed, my paints are still easily accessible from a cupboard in the garage.

For now, I want to focus my workspace around my sketching in ink, pens, coloured pencil or watercolours.

I placed all my coloured pencils into jars in groups of colour and, yes, I do plan to remove the jar labels at some point. I'm more set up now for sketching so I'm a happy little Vegemite! :)

MY WORD FOR 2012

My regular readers will be aware that I haven't had a very good run with health over the last year and a half and these medical issues are still ongoing.  A hysterectomy will be needed in the coming months to resolve a uterine condition and that will be one major health hurdle dealt with at least.

SO, my word for 2012 will be HEALING.

Each night, I will light a candle and say a prayer before going to bed. I will ask the Universe/God/Creator/Non-physical Source for HEALING for myself, for others, for abused animals and for Mother Earth. I hope this nightly ritual will bring about positive outcomes for all.

~ Love, light and peace ~

  2. I have heard that affirmations DO help - so hopefully your ritual will help heal your medical issues!

I do so love how organised your desk looks, all ready for some serious art!! I have issues deciding which medium to work with and which one to have out on display, then when I do I change my mind or dont do any art at all! LOL!

looking forward to seeing more of your sketches in the coming months!

Love your new workspace. You really do have a lot of sketchbooks--wow! And it makes sense to reorganize to have around the supplies you've been using the most lately. You do such beautiful ink and watercolor sketches. Nice having everything so organized and at your fingertips.

I hope this coming year will be uplifting, exciting, and filled with healing! I like your affirmation. You're in my thoughts and prayers and included every time I practice this new soul comfort thing. ;)

  7. Serena, you have totally inspired me to organize my art table! Thank you...this is just what I needed to see. I've been feeling a teensy bit sorry for myself because I have such a small space at the moment and just couldn't get past the mess.

Healing sounds like the perfect word for you Serena. I will hold this vision for you too. Happy New Year to you and your family!

  8. I pray you experience healing Serena, sooner rather than later.

Your work space is so organized. I think I would be totally inspired working there. My space is well...chaotic, unorganized and I run out of inspiration as soon as I start in.

  12. Also remember to envision yourself (everyday) completely healed . Don't just ask for healing, believe that it has already happened. Live each day from that place of restored health. It is your belief that you are healthy that will make it a reality. So looking forward to your beautiful progress as the year unfolds.
    Peace~

  19. Your art space looks nice and clean, and I happen to notice at how your brushes are kept in a nice neat row, I never seen a brush stand like that one before.

Regardless one's beliefs I have learn that meditation along with prayers often helps one spiritual soul for the better of all things.

  38. Thanks, all.

Fran - I've never studied Feng Shui although I have read books on the subject. For a time, I did get quite involved with feng-shui-ing the house but not so much any more. :)

  40. Hi Serena!

How have you been? I hope you are feeling better already.

Your studio is just so neat! I love it. You can find everything you need because you have organized them so well. I would like to do the same in my little art work space. However, that's not always the case. I organize my stuff and then after working on a project, it gets cluttered again. haha. :-) Oh well. I guess I need to de-clutter it every time I finish working on something. :-)

    xoxo
