A dog, some crochet and a sweet video!

Goodness, time has managed to slip away quite quickly since my last post.

I just had to show you this photo that my son, Reece, took of Cody last weekend. I had popped out to the shops and Cody propped himself up on the chair closest to the front door awaiting my return. So nice to know someone misses me when I'm gone.

How cute is he?!!

I've been fairly busy with handicraft projects....

Another puppy coat for my grand-puppy, Abbey.
She has almost grown out of the last one I made.

I also started another ripple blanket...this one is for Aaron.
I LOVE working those ripples!

Like me, Aaron likes the greens and blues together.

OH and I just had to share this sweet video that I came across on Facebook.
Just in case the video doesn't work, here is the link - Animal Love
Isn't it the cutest thing?

On the health front - The inflammation of my chest wall lining has eased dramatically and only hurts occasionally.  However, I've been getting A LOT of strong pain in my hands and feet.....the kind that wakes me up in the middle of the night. I think is related to the osteoarthritis. Anywhoo.....

Wishing you all a great weekend!!!

  1. Glad to hear all is well and you are staying happily busy. That Cody is the sweetest. Such unconditional love. And the video -- how is it that some families have animals that don't get along and others have pets that are like one big happy family? I have all sorts of unexplained pains now. I'm assuming it is just a natural progression of reaching menopause. Take care! And have a great weekend. Tammy

    1. Thanks, Tammy....the time just seems to always get away from me faster when Aaron is on school holidays. I think pain must just be a part of getting older and we just have to grin and bear it. I agree, I can pinpoint the start of all my ailments to the start of menopause. xo

  3. Cody looks so sweet sitting up there waiting for Mom to come home. ;)
Those are cute dog coats you've been making. Simple and warm. Love the ripple blanket, too. I don't know how you can manage all that with your hands hurting so much. Do you think that sets off the pain?
Love this video!! When I was young and had so many animals, they got along really well, too--my dog, cat, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, parakeet... They knew they were all family and all loved. And even if they didn't love all the other "family" members, they knew they weren't supposed to hurt them or bother them. The iguana and chameleons--only tolerated. LOL! I also raised an abandoned wild baby rabbit to adulthood, too, so that little bunny brought back so many memories!! I could almost smell the baby bunny fur. :):)
Have you ever tried any of that cream you can rub into your hands for arthritis? Just curious.
    Love and hugs!!

    1. I find I suffer pain worse in the cold weather but I do love the colder weather over our hot, unbearable summers so I'm not going to complain. Mum's Rheumatologist told her once that keeping her hands active with her knitting would be beneficial. My hands do tend to seize up and cramp a bit if I've been crocheting for a long period so I just take it easy and have a break. I have tried a liniment but it didn't seem to help much. I may look into some others out there on the market.

I agree, the video is adorable. How lucky you were to have quite a menagerie of animals when you were young. I hope the video brought back happy memories for you. xo

    1. Krissie, my right foot is my worst but, some days, I hobble along in the mornings because the whole of my feet are in pain. I've always had a high regard for Blackmores so I will check out their joint relief, thanks. xo

  6. Cody is so sweet! The ripples are lovely and I do like the blue and green together as well. Hope you found some relief for the pain Serena. Abbey is going to love the new coat you made :) My dear beloved doggy, Bienkie (Who passed away in 2005 - she was the apple of my eye)had lots of coats that I made for her. She used to parade and run around the room smiling happily (yes though she was a dog she could show so much emotion) every time I made a new one.
    Take care Serena

  10. Serena, this whole post was totally "feel good" for me... your beautiful puppy coat, the ripple blanket (GORgeous colors!!), Cody sitting there in that chair like a human being, waiting for you (too special!) and that video... omg... too cute. Thanks for sharing all of this. Glad to hear things have improved a bit for you - post whenever you feel up to it. i totally understand your absence now and then. Take care of YOU first. (otherwise, who will take care of Cody?!) ;-) xoxo

  12. Dogs make the best people!

That wool work looks so much like a tidal reef - the ocean in crochet! So beautifully neat.

I hope your pain settles down. I had rotten hand & feet pain and inflammation that the usual RA drugs wouldn't fix - so onto the antibody treatment and what a blessed relief! Maybe something similiar could work for you?

    1. Thanks, Cindy....I love anything to do with the sea so I do like your analogy for the ripple blanket.

Well, saw my Rheumatologist yesterday and I'm still clear of Rheumatoid Arthritis...the pain must be due to the osteoarthritis. Ah, the joys of aging...sigh ~

  13. Thats a really nice video. If all animals are introduced to eachother correctly they form special bonds like this which is so nice to see. If animals can put aside differences you would think humans would be able to as well yet they struggle the most. Love the photo of Cody xo

I love the video you've shared, I love it when animals get on so well like that, they're so cute! Love the picture of Cody sitting on the chair like that, it's so funny! I love the look of the coat you're doing for Abbey! She is going to look so cute in it! That blanket you're doing for Aaron is great also! No good about the hand and feet pain, I hope that doesn't get too bad, and I'm glad your chest pain seems to be getting better!

    Love Brad!

    Hope you are doing well.
I had to smile when I saw the photo if Cody in the chair. He looks as though he is in a Dr's office waiting for his turn to go in! :)
Love the little dog coat you are making and the ripple blanket is going to be great! Lovely colors.

    1. Hi Norma,

It's been crazy busy of late and now it's cold and flu season which, unfortunately, I haven't escaped from. I can't believe how much Cody makes me think of a human just sitting in that chair. lol

Hugs to you too, my friend ~ xo
