Scribble Picnic - FOREST

Hi fellow Scribblers!

It's been one of those weeks and I very nearly didn't participate.  However, I caught a lucky break because there were some issues with the Mr Linky gadget on Michael's blog so he extended the time for us. Phew!  I swear I had nothing to do with it!

So this week's prompt is FOREST.

I LOVE hiking through the rain forests at Mount Tamborine here in South East Queensland so I figured I'd depict a forest walk.

Initial ink pen sketch and watercolour

And then to give it a bit of oomph by bumping up the contrasts between lights and darks. I used Sumi ink for the darks.

The next prompt will be GOODBYE AUTUMN.  Not sure that it applies to me though as we will be saying goodbye to spring soon.

  4. So YOU'RE the one who messed with Mr. Linky hmmmmmm? ;) LOL...glad to see your forest Serena!!! It's very beautiful. I envy that you are about to start your summer actually. Our snowfall has put me down in the dumps! But...it is very pretty! :)

  6. Wow, that's crazy amazing, Serena. I love them both too. Both of them have something to offer. You just keep growing and growing...like those trees! Wonderful job. Thank you so much. So glad you got to squeeze this in too! :)

  8. Yes, I would enjoy a walk there too Serena - and what a lovely name, Mount Tamborine. I was mesmerized by the plants (especially tree ferns) when visiting the Australian rain forest in 2011 - and those kookaburras were laughing at me, what a sound that was!

Here's a link to my visit - are you familiar with anyone those areas Serena?

Fabulous painting, and I like that you added the hikers.
    Enjoy the arrival of springtime.

  10. I actually like the lighter color trees as I seem to prefer lighter palettes more often but the contrast with the darker trees actually works much better. great creation.

    have a lovely day.
