work in progress & coloured pencil lesson

perpetual chocoholic has put up the first lesson for the coloured pencil project on her blog.

as i'm very much a novice when it comes to coloured pencil art, i'm looking forward to giving it a is my line drawing attempt for lesson one.

click here for the list of requirements and instruction if you are interested in trying it yourself.

i also managed to do the rough blocking-in of the frangipanis on the canvas for my room today. still more to do with the background but having the basic flowers in place gives me a better idea of balance. i still need to make a start on the baby canvas for my niece....maybe tomorrow.

call me crazy but i have signed up for yet another blog book club! we will be reading and working our way through the joy diet by martha beck starting friday, september 18th. i'm all for living a more joyful life and i do enjoy working through books within an online blogger group so taking the bait was easy. the joy diet overlaps the artist's way but i'll give it my best shot. click here if you're interested in more information.

love, light and peace

  1. I mentioned to my friend that you were doing the artists way again, and so we have decided after book 3, to not despair about a book 4 but simply go back and do 1 again, because we have changed so much, so its ok to do it again. you have inspired us! thank you, have a lovely creative and soulful week...

  2. The tutorial looks wonderful. I shall be waiting to see what you come up with.
Your progress on the canvas is looking great.

  3. good luck with the coloured pencil :) looks like it should be helpful

those flowers look lovely so far :)

  4. Hi Serena,
Well done on the apple drawing and your frangipani's. This painting is coming along nicely.

Gosh, you are a busy lady and a great student for Julia.

I can imagine if you could live the five imaginary lives you would do all of those things.
I feel I know you so well with you inner thoughts and creative writing.

    Have a great weekend.

  5. Canvas is getting better and better!

  6. Hi there, I really love that background on your latest canvas it's so great to see a work in progress. I'm also looking forward to seeing how your pencil work turns out!!
