tassel head people completed

...and here they are

i'm happy with how they turned out and i enjoyed the technique of gluing and wrapping the embroidery cotton around the pieces. thanks, ro.

they started out from this

you may notice that the red hooded character ended up being a raggedy doll character instead...that's just what i felt drawn to do.

on another note, thanks to some torrential rain, our drought of ten years in south east queensland has been officially declared OVER!!! it didn't come without costs though. one poor man lost his life when gale-force winds picked up an awning from somewhere and sent it crashing through his office window yesterday. there was severe flooding in many suburbs and some areas were classified as disaster zones. luckily, we live in a suburb that was safe from the flooding though there was a lot of water on the roads and very strong winds with the heavy rain made for dangerous road conditions. yesterday was definitely a day for spending indoors. today, the rain eased though i'm not sure if there is still more to come.

for now, staying warm and dry

love, light and peace to you all

I am glad the drought is over and that you are safe from flooding. My heart goes out to those who aren't.

Serena -- I am so glad to hear that the drought is over! Australia certainly had a rough time of it.

I live in Florida and we suffered drought conditions, but when Hurricane Faye visited, she washed away our drought.

I'm sorry that your drought ended with floods...do stay warm and dry:~)

Serena,

Oops! I forgot to say that I loved the dolls you created. They're pretty amazing, especially the detail you put in them!

Serena, they are delightful! Positively charming.

Our rains continue in my area, too. Our drought is over! I think this storm system is supposed to start moving out of the area Sat. I'm ready to see the sun again.

Oh, they are so cute! I love the black one.

Glad to hear your drought is over. How sad that the man was killed and in such a freaky manner.

Hi Serena, glad that you are safe & your home has no flood damage ... saw the news coverage, incredible how much rain fell in such a short time. Good that the dams are full though!
Your little dolls are adorable, my fav is the one with the purple hood:)

Too bad the weather has to go from one extreme to the other. I hope no one else is hurt in the flooding. Glad for the moisture, tho--sounds like you really needed it! :)

These are the cutest little dolls! Such fun to do something different, I bet. Creativity just flows out of you, lady! :):)

Thank you all for your wonderful and caring comments.

The torrential rain system has moved south of us into New South Wales and, from what I saw on the news, it is causing lots of flooding there too. :(

Janet - Now here was me thinking the purple one would have been your favourite ~ ;)

Nic - Thanks for popping by ~ :)

Linda - I'm glad to hear your drought is now over also. :)

These are great! Miss yellow thing is adorable, I just love her hair jewelry! Wow, for real? 10 years of drought? I'm so glad that you've finally received rain, but I'm sorry it had to come with tragic consequences. Stay warm and safe.

Thanks, Serena. Yes, 10 years of drought....of course, we have had bouts of rain during those ten years but never enough to break the drought....our dams have been at critically low levels for the past couple of years. Now, the dams are nearly all full from the last news report I heard...YAY!

Serena, They turned out just great. I think they are so darn cute and I can see why Aaron took charge of the raggedy doll one. Thank goodness for the rain and the reserves filling up, but sadly at a cost.

Rain in good time and just enough is such a blessing, isn't it. I'm so glad your drought is over though I wish it had ended in a less dramatic fashion.
