we had a very mild spring and our introduction to summer on the 1st of this month was pretty much non-existent because we've been having cooler than average temps, overcast days, and a fair bit of rain.  however since monday we have been sweltering in the heat again and we've also experienced severe storms over the past couple of days.  at 1:30pm yesterday afternoon, a storm approached.....it became very dark and made for quite a surreal atmosphere where even the streetlights lit up thinking night had fallen.  i dislike our summer storms immensely because they can do so much damage. so far we've escaped the hail that other areas were pelted with but more storms are expected this afternoon and over the weekend so i sure hope it stays away from us.  unfortunately we don't have air-con either so i may need to view some pics of snow on friend's blogs to help cool me down a little.

i haven't been able to get into the christmas mood this year.  maybe it has to do with the excitement over little mikayla's arrival or perhaps the fact that aaron is nearly 12 and no longer excited about santa's overnight delivery.  he even told me weeks ago that he didn't want any christmas presents this year....can you believe it??!!  i guess he usually gets things throughout the year anyways from me and his four adult siblings so is content with what he has already. i will still get him a little something but it's nice to know i'm not under pressure.

i'll leave you with more pics of mikayla with her uncles who are all totally smitten with her

  1. Loved loved seeing her with all her uncle. How fun and I'm so happy for you all! Sorry to hear about how hot it is...

What a sweet kid to tell you he doesn't want anything...

  2. Hi Grandma Serena! :) Congrats on precious little Mikayla. She is beautiful! So glad to hear all is well.

It's hard to get in the Christmas spirit around here when everything is the same day in and day out. A couple of stores will have some decorations but certainly not over the top like you find elsehwhere in the world where the wonder of it all draws you in and makes you realize that the season has arrived. :/

We've just come back from baseball so I am all dusty and gritty feeling. Have a great day. Hope the storms pass you by. Best wishes, Tammy

  5. Well you've got to be pretty tried out from these last few months and now that Mikayla is here and everyone can relax and enjoy the newness of her--you're probably a bit tired to think about Christmas now, too. (You're not the only one, I'm sure--hehe!)

Aaron is so sweet to say he doesn't need anything. Says a lot about what kind of person he is. He really deserves a little something special. ;)

(Next year is going to be really fun when Mikayla is one year old for the holidays.)

I hope the storms miss you. You can come and look at snow from Fargo on my blog. Best to you all this holiday season--Christmas and New Year's!! :):)

  8. Mikayla has plenty of protective uncles to watch over her. What a lucky little girl. I can see how she would capture your heart.

I really sympathize with you over the heat. We get very hot during the summer, too and I don't like it. I can't give you any pictures of snow to cool you down. All we have is rain and wind.

  9. Oh My Mikayla is just gorgeous Serena. you must be a very proud grandma. Have you tried to put a pen or paintbrush in her hand yet? You can never start to young LOL.
She is so lucky to have so many protectors around her.
Well I am getting a bit tired of this fickle weather too. The rain is great to break the drought but I would appreciate it more if it just rained at night and then the sun shone warmly during the day. Too much to ask? I thought so LOL

it is snowing here today....cold...the way it should be for this time of year for us in this part of the world..but the weather is getting crazier and more unpredictable these days...and it just seems to be getting further and further out of control.....
