Today, April 25th, is ANZAC day here in Australia.
ANZAC stands for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
In honour of the ANZACs who gave so much for our freedom.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
at the going down of the sun and in the morning,
we will remember them.

Just beautiful Serena. Love the words you wrote for them. Also love that older man who is probably a veteran and is in a somber thinking mood. Makes me feel somber too. Life is too short Serena. I feel my time just passing me by. I keep saying I have to do what I want to do now, not later. I want a 3 wheel bike, the ones with the basket and I'm going out to get one. Even if I just ride it in my backyard or down the street. What do you think? Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gloria. The words aren't mine but I've always loved that little poem...very touching.
DeleteYou go get that bike and have fun with it! xo
Lest we forget.
ReplyDeleteTouching picture.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gloria. Life is too short. Don't let time pass us by. :)
Great post, Mum!
ReplyDeleteI like the pic you put up for ANZAC Day and the info about what ANZAC stands for! It's sad when you think of all that had happened, so sad that many people, even today, go to war and either die or become injured.
Love Brad!
xoxo
Thanks, everyone. The soldiers have a very tough job and it sure does make us feel gratitude for what we do have.
ReplyDeleteWar can be so pointless. Gratitude is the least we should be giving.
ReplyDeleteSerena, it is wonderful to see you back!Fingers crossed you are back to full health in no time!
My Mum always says that, if the men in the top power positions were actually the ones going out onto the front-lines, there would be no wars. Wars are all about power and greed and they are senseless. I feel for the soldiers.
DeleteYes, it's great to be back!
Wow! Things sure have changed over here. Glad you are back and doing well. I think this weekend there is an Anzac Ball here in Kuwait. That is a lovely image and poem. All that is political boils down to greed. While men sit in their crisp suits and banter, the real men and women are in the trenches fighting. Very sad. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteVery true, Tammy.
DeleteYou have a great weekend too....we're in for a very wet day tomorrow according to weather reports. I'm still sick with asthma so I may well spend the day in my jammies. xo
