Scribble Picnic - Rabbit

Hi everyone,

A very quick post for now so I can squeeze into the Scribble Picnic deadline.

I thought I would miss it altogether with more doctor's appointments and helping my Mum out at her place yesterday (Wednesday) but I did manage a quick ballpoint pen sketch.

A work-in-progress at the moment.  So much more shading and detail to do yet but I didn't want to miss the deadline.

Scribble Picnic is hosted by Michael on his blog. Next week's theme is LADDER.  Come along and join in on the fun. To find out how, click HERE.

I may add more to this post later but need to rush and post it now so I can add the link to Michael's post before his Mr Linky gadget closes. I hope nobody minds me being late.  It's funny because I felt exactly like Michael's 'Rabbit' illustration/video for this week...I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date! hehe

  1. this is adorable, love the rabbit doll, this looks to be a good start. this begs me to color it, I would definitely add a lot of colorful polka dots for the bedsheets and even a bow for the rabbit's ear.

& as Michael said, scribble picnic is not for complete works rather, for any creations or sketches, or even just scribblings, that is what I think of scribble picnic

    have a lovely day.

  2. Glad you weren't late for this "very important date!" The little girl looks so peaceful, and why shouldn't she, since she's all snuggled in with her cute little rabbit. If you do add more, I'd love to see it.

Hard as it may be sometimes, what a privilege that you are able to help out your mother.

Yes, I want to be there for my Mum as she has been there for me when I have gone through hard times in my life. I went down a similar path with my Dad too. It's been very difficult emotionally to see my parents deteriorate in health after they have always been the rocks of love and support in my life.

  3. There's something so heartwarming about watching a child sleep. I see that the little bunny is keeping her safe. This is precious.

  4. So sweet and sentimental Serena - perhaps time will give you a break later and you can work on it a bit more, even though it's lovely as is.

Hope your mom is doing OK - know that taking care of our beloved elderly family members can take a lot of time, and energy! Glad to see you here this week.
    Happy Easter weekend - Mary

    1. Thank you, Mary. I do plan to colour this sketch when I get a chance.

Mum's double vision seems to be getting a little worse unfortunately. I agree, my life was no longer my own when my Dad's health went on a serious decline over the last two years of his life. I was so glad to be there for him and for Mum.

I hope you are having a lovely time in Europe. :)

  5. a great drawing. So much potential here and perhaps a story. I love the little rabbit. It seems to be awake yet. At least one eye. perhaps a mystery.

  6. This is lovely Serena, your 'quick sketches' are a lot better than many of us could do! We are at a stage of life where we have the health problems and have to manage aging parents!

I agree. After having been down this road with my Dad, I know how tough it can get with the ailing health of our elderly parents. So very sad for them.

  7. Lissa's got it right--just doing a sketch or scribble is totally good. We are all busy, i know. As it is, Serena, this is darling. So well drawn too. It's a great way to show a bunny as well, all tucked in there, soft and cosy. Thank you for squeezing that in!

I hope things are progressing with your mother. My mother too is requiring that extra help and has been in and out of hospital, the latest being for surgery to take out bed sores 3" deep! Ugh. Doctors then discovered he kidneys are only operating at 11% due to so many infections since going to hospitals!

    1. I'm finally getting a chance to respond to comments so please forgive my lateness, Michael. I am so sorry your Mum is going through tough times. The topic of bedsores came up in a book I recently read and they are mostly due to lack of mobility and poor circulation. They sound horrible and painful. My Dad started developing a few small ones not long before he passed. He was in aged care because he needed medical assistance round the clock. I do hope they can get on top of your Mum's kidney infections... Not good at all. It's so very hard to see our parents deteriorate and become so dependent. Sending healing vibes to your Mum.

Thanks for the lovely comment on my sketch.

Mum's appointments went as well as could be expected. I feel so bad for her as I can't imagine having to cope with deteriorating vision, especially at her age.

  11. As someone else said, your quick sketches are way better than what some folks (like me) could come up with. Quick is good when you are busy. Take care!

  12. I don't think anyone minds if you aren't as far along as you'd hoped to be on the sketch. Challenges like this are meant to be for fun, anyhow.

I hope the medical appointments were just routine stuff, and not anything new and nasty to deal with.

Nothing new on the medical side of things for Mum... Just managing the condition as best we can.

  16. That is so precious. I love the simplicity, and the peaceful sleep she has with her bunny. Sorry I'm so late in commenting...some sad family news came up....and I got sidetracked. Looking forward to our new theme tomorrow.
