Scribble Picnic - Gift wrap

It's already Thursday Down-Under so I'm running very late for Scribble Picnic. I had a very bad pain day with my back yesterday after doing some housework for house inspection.  We passed inspection with flying colours but my back grumbled and groaned for the rest of the day and evening.  I took painkillers and went off to bed even though I did have ideas for my take on the theme floating around in my head. I just couldn't focus on anything due to the pain.  Thankfully, it wasn't as bad when I woke this morning so I decided to quickly sketch something.

There is more to add...and I will definitely be adding watercolours so will post the results later.

Finished the colour version in the afternoon

  1. Of course, we need those scissors and tape to make our packages the prettiest ever. You had the right idea.

  3. Oh, I hope you feel better. Glad you passed the inspection, but I can't see how you wouldn't. :) Lovely sketch. Makes me think of Christmas presents. :)

  8. But of course–one must have scissors and tape to wrap a gift! Your double tape dispenser is interesting. Can't say that I've ever seen one. Good job on getting your drawing done! I didn't get one done this week, and don't really even have a good excuse.

  9. You just reminded me to put tape on my shopping list. I know I am out and I will for sure need a lot of tape. So sorry your back is grumbling again. House inspection? Are you moving? That can be a lot of work ... hope it is a good move to a place you will love. Your "quick" sketch would have taken me all day to do and then it still wouldn't be as good as yours ... talent, talent. Rest and be well Serena ...

  10. Firstly, I'm so sorry you have these pains to contend with now and then. Glad you are starting to feel better, Serena, well at least at the time of this writing.

House inspection? Are your renting out or buying or selling ...or maybe it's an Oz thing required?

I love your illo - a really fun and clever way to show gift wrap, focusing on the tools to put it together instead. Both pieces are great. Of course, the colour version lends itself perfectly to the Christmas season. I love how the Scissors' handle looks like it's coming off the page as it crosses over the spine.

Thank you so much for finding the wherewithal to even render this. I love it.

BTW, I have our new Scribble Picnic themes/prompts up on the side bar. I think you'll rather enjoy some of them and some will get the creative wheels spinning. We will take a break for next week since it's the day before America's Thanksgiving and many of our picnickers will be busy shopping and cooking big family meals and whatnot. See you on the 29th, I hope!
