Hi everyone,
I hope you've been enjoying a lovely week.
I think this may be my first time participating in
Rain's Thursday Art Date. The theme for this week is 'Pink'. I hope the pink Easter egg in my finally completed Easter spread
will do. I know Easter was back in April but I've gradually been adding
elements to the pages and only completed it last week.
The eggs, chick, and bunny were done with watercolours and ink. I collaged some stamps and the packaging from the vegan chocolate my son and I tried for the first time over Easter — it was delicious! The Carrie's Coconut bars remind me so much of the Bounty bars I used to love — I actually like the vegan ones better which is saying something because I've always been very picky when it comes to chocolate and the English-recipe Cadbury's was always my favourite.

Temperatures have dropped a bit here with Winter officially arriving on the first of June. I do love our winters despite the fact that the cold, dry air brings on frequent asthma attacks. I have to remember to wear a mask if I go outside in the mornings or evenings. If I forget, like I did the other morning, I suffer with violent fits of coughing followed almost immediately by chest congestion which makes breathing difficult. I end up feeling quite ill and weak for two to three days. Not fun at all especially when I'm still dealing with neck issues from the fall. I'll battle on regardless.
Before I close off this post, I thought you might like to see a picture of my studio muse. If Kya isn't draped across my art desk, she will sometimes lie on the rug directly behind my chair, mostly because I've kept putting her down after her failed attempts to lie on top of my work — while I'm actually trying to work. I'm fine if she lies on the desk right beside me but that isn't always the case. Instead of an art muse, I should call her an art block because she hates me working at my desk and constantly tries to stop me. Crazy cat!
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and the upcoming weekend. Stay safe and well.
Love, Light and Peace
Your cat is adorable! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour asthma attacks sound scary Serena. Don't forget that mask. And I love your journal spread too. Is the vegan chocolate bar with dark chocolate? They look yummy. I hope no more asthma attacks and you have a good week ahead. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteCute Kya! Lovely pink eggs too. Sorry to hear of the asthma attacks.
ReplyDeleteCute Kya. Lovely pink eggs. Sorry to learn of the asthma attacks.
ReplyDeleteHi Serena! Looks after yourself, your asthma attacks sound scary. I got a vegan dark chocolate bar given to me recently, and to my surprise, it was wonderful. My cat always spread herself over my work or on the computer keyboard - I shouldn't waste time with other thngs. She was such a sweety. Your pink eggs are beautiful. Have a good week, stay safe and well, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry your are having a hard time breathing. Take it easy and care for yourself. I really like your collage, and ohh that kitty face. How darn cute. Have a really great day today.
ReplyDeleteEven shy Annie does that sometimes when I am trying to write a letter in my chair LOL! Such a pretty journal spread. :)
ReplyDeleteWell actually some of us see Pentecost Subday as the end of the Easter Season so i guess pink Easter eggs are still on time😊 Thanks for dropping by my blog today.
ReplyDeleteMuch💛love
The wonderful thing about Rain's TAD is that you can wonder off track with your own ideas and it is still okay. Your pink (beautifully painted) egg fits in perfectly and love the Bunny ... cute and excellent water color painting. It sounds like you are struggling a little with your health. Since this is my first visit to your blog, I am unaware of your fall, but falling at anytime can leave you with problems and discomfort. I hope you are healing up and feeling better. Asthma ... I know it because I have it. I too have what my Doctor refers to as a chronic cough and it kicks up whenever it feels like it and usually at an inappropriate time. I do not, however get sick like you do. So can't leave without commenting on your adorable feline ...What a face. Cat's seem to have an instinct for when you are doing something that they can sit on or play with. She looks like she has a little devilment in her ... cute as a button :) Hope we see you again at Rain's, Serena and hope you are feeling better soon.

Great post and beautiful art. Oh and that cat -..so cute. I forget you are having winter while we are just getting summer here. Hope it's kind to you with no severe weather. Hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAw, but Kya looks so innocent! Cats are a hoot. They can be really adamant about what they want and what the humans are supposed to be doing!
ReplyDeleteYour pink Easter eggs are a perfect addition to Rain's TAD. The Easter spread is really appealing.
Hi, Serena! Welcome to Rain's TAD! I'm a relatively new participant. I try to be a regular participant, but sometimes life gets in the way. Your Easter spread is lovely, and the pops of pink are perfect. Kya is gorgeous. What a beautiful Muse! I see that you live in Brisbane. Visiting your beautiful country is on my Bucket List. Have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteCloudia - Thanks! 😊
ReplyDeleteErika - Thanks so much. The vegan chocolate seemed to sit in the middle of milk and dark chocolate.
I've been wearing my mask when I go outside in the mornings and evenings, the colder parts of the day — so hopefully, with my preventer inhaler, I'll manage to keep the attack at bay.
Christine - Thanks! 😊
ValerieNicole - Thanks, Nicole.
I'm feeling a lot better now. When I have an attack, it always feeling like I'm not getting my full oxygen capacity.
Rita - Thank you. Kya is currently lying on top of my journal on my desk as I type. lol
Gillena - Well, that's good to know. Thanks for visiting my blog today. 😊
Andrea - Yes, that's what I like about Rain's Art Date too. We don't have to stick to the theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling much better, asthma-wise, thanks. I have advanced osteoarthritis in my back and hands, a little milder in my feet and neck. When I have a fall, it can flare up the pain. Gradually getting back to my norm.
My breathing that is affected when I have the asthma attacks and, despite my inhalers, it can hang about for a few days. It's like I'm only getting 80% of my normal intake which leaves me feeling weak and unwell. It's weird because my asthma isn't too bad through summer but the cold winter air can be a major trigger.
You are spot on with Kya's description.
Have a lovely weekend,
Serena x
Sandy - Thanks! ❤️ I'm remembering to wear my mask now when I go outside in the colder mornings and evenings.
ReplyDeleteLeigh - Kya is my first ever cat so it's been quite a learning curve. We took her in when the neighbours turfed her out after getting a new kitten. She is legally mine now and was 6 when she first came to my door in 2019. I love having a cat in the house.
I'm glad you like the Easter spread.
Fundy Blue - Thanks so much! 😊 I do hope you get to visit Australia one day. I see that you are in Colorado. We lived in Wyoming for around 18 months way back in 1997. My youngest was born there. I saw snow for the first time in my life. We used to love going camping there. Loved the mountain scenery best of all.
Have a lovely weekend. x
