Today I decided to finish the beachscape I started a while ago and, try as I might, I just could not manage a decent photo of it, sorry. One thing I have learned from this painting is that I'm not a beachscape artist. Maybe I just need more practice or maybe I should stick to animals. lol However, this painting is sentimental because my reference was a photograph I'd taken of three of my kids. Aaron, now 9, was only 2 years old then.
I had so much fun with the Valentine's Day journal page that I decided to do a similar background for a mixed media piece I'm working on.
I think I'll get an early night tonight as I have a migraine hanging over me. Nighty-night to all.
Oh, this is just beautiful! You can definitely consider yourself a beachscape artist.
ReplyDeleteSerena, I just tried to leave a comment and something weird happened. I hope I'm not repeating myself. I love this painting! The color, sense of light and space, are perfect. I can feel the salt air! And I especially like the pose of the figures and their reflections. I would say you are a 'beachscape artist' :)
ReplyDeleteOh,Serena!!!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, what a sweet memory this piece must be for you...BUT, whatever do you mean "you're not a beachscape artist"????? (It must be your migraine talking...) ;)
Your beach scene is fabulous...I love the scale of the people...and the reflection of the wet sand, and the never ending pulse of those frothy white waves...I can actually HEAR them! Oh, and that vista...WOW! Your water is so so-so believable!!!
I am making this piece my very own personal mental retreat...and I want to be there...now!
Thanks so much, Teri ~ :)
ReplyDeleteI only received the second comment, Ann, so thanks for persevering and thank you for your lovely comment. :)
Margaret Ann, thank you for leaving such a beautiful comment. :)

ReplyDeleteHope you feel better tomorrow :)

Serena, the beach painting is gorgeous and the mixed media piece is lovely. I'm glad you had a nice visit from Michelle. I hope that she will continue to heal and get better!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria and Luci ~ :)
ReplyDeleteI would agree with everyone else. This is a lovely painting and I can't imagine why you don't think you're a beachscape artist!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today, and ofr leaving such a nice comment. I do hope your migraine is better.
Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment, Janet. I guess I'm my own worst critic because I'm not used to doing landscapes or beachscapes. I think everyone's supportive comments have made me feel much better about the painting. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Serena, your artwork is so beautiful ad detailed...totally amazing! Those drawings of the eyes and mouth just blew me away!Thank you for taking the time to say hi.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering why you think you're not a seascape artist. I think this is amazing! I love the colors and the serenity and warmth in the picture.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are just beautiful...so different from each other but beautiful in their own ways.
ReplyDeleteSerena, obviously you are your own worst critic; the beach scene is lovely! Such a visual treat, too, for those of us who just got buried in 2 feet of snow! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI seriously do NOT understand when you typed the words "I am not a beachscape artist". This - THIS - is STUNNING! I love it Serena! The beach looks so wet and perfect and the waves and sky are wonderful and I think the placement of the figures is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove the romantic pattern as well. Very nice Serena. You have many talents.
Thanks, guys....with all your wonderful support, how could I not feel much better about the painting? You're the best!
ReplyDeleteYour beach scene is beautiful Serena! The colour of your water is stunning, moving onto the beach...I love it!
ReplyDeleteRonell
Well, you're definitely a Beachscape Artist in my book, this painting is gorgeous, the light is so clear in it, I can almost smell the sea ... brilliant!

ReplyDeleteSerena I love your beach scene. I think it does evoke the sense of love you feel for your children. Very nice.
