I finally found some time to do some drawings from photos I took at Forest Lake.

Those are really truly incredible! You are such an amazing artist. That top one looks like it should be framed not in a sketch book!

Oh my--I didn't realize how much I missed the loving touch you have with birds! Very interesting looking birds, too. Not that I don't like the rest of the sketches--hehe! Glad you got some quality time with the kids. Sounds just wonderful, Serena! But how can that lawn be dry enough to mow already?! :)

Serena,

The pictures of the birds are wonderful. They could walk or swim off the page.

My favorite is the Purple Swamp Hen and I agree it does look like she's putting "best foot forward" or "strutting her stuff"!

Your sketches brought those birds alive! My favorite is the swamp hen- we don't have a bird like that, that I'm aware of.

Amazing! You have such talent, Serena. My favorites here are the Muscovy Duck and the Purple Swamp Hen (who looks really exotic to me).

Highly recommend a click for a closeup on the Muscovy Duck to all readers. :) You've captured such a sense of motion in the gently rippling water, the shadow of his head and body, his ruffled wings, and the feet seen propelling him along beneath layers of shadow, water, and reflection. Lovely!

p.s. I do hope Michelle is better. Tell her a fellow TAWer sends her Zen wishes and as much healthy energy as I can muster in the dead of winter!
