Sunday Snippets & Sunday Sketches

Photos from my week!

Blueberry oat muffins made by my son, Aaron.
They were delicious!

Seven of these canvasses will form one painting in the near future.

I got me some push pins in my favourite colours! WHOO HOO!
Green...

Purple and blue...

I was so happy to find these push-pins!

A pretty moth I spotted under the pergola roof.

Aaron and I walked to the park with our dogs, Cody and Jack.
Here is Cody and a wee glimpse of Jack in the top right corner.

A pair of galahs joined us under a tree nearby.
Here is one of them.

Today was quite busy but, for Sunday Sketches,
I did manage to do more work on the doodle sketch.
Still unfinished but getting closer to the finish line.
I should add that this doodle is inspired by Alisa Burke!
I'm taking her Sketchbook Delight 2 class.

Have a lovely week.

Those muffins look delicious! I've never seen push pins (so cool!) or a moth like that. You've really got me curious as to what you'll be creating with those seven canvasses! And I love what you are doing with the layers of mandala shapes. I peeked at her website and her classes look like they'd be fun. Enjoy!! Spring for you guys, fall for us. :):)

There's something so kaleidoscope-like about these flower patterns! Very Yellow Submarine-y and fun.

Those pins look so good, I have trouble with the little ones. Looks like you can really get hold of those ones. Your picture is looking so good, those colours are gorgeous. Are you using the Inktense pencils, the colours are so bright.

Your photos of your pups always bring a smile to my face. And I can't wait to see what project you'll be making with the canvases! Love that you share little snap shots of your world. How did you get your doodles so richly colored? They're wonderful!

Can't wait to see Reece's painting! It's going to be a big job though, so I feel for you. Where did you find the push pins? They look pretty cool!

Love the colours and design of the artwork! You are so good with your water colours. Luv Shell xo

Thanks, Mistea! :)

Thanks, Melisa! I've never done a 7 canvas painting before so it does feel a little daunting. I'm sure I'll be okay once I get started tho. :)

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Bron....yes, I'm very happy that Aaron enjoys being creative too. :)

Serena Lewis said...

They were delicious, Rita, and I'm not usually a fan of muffins so that's saying something. Reece wants me to paint a silhouette of and Oriental tree across all seven canvasses....should be interesting. Alisa has been a great inspiration for me. xo

Thanks, Sabina! :)

Thanks, Lynn ~ :)

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Molly. I know it's only a small thing but I was so excited to find that style of push-pin in my favourite colours.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Alexandra ~ :)

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Carol....so glad you dropped by. :)

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Shashi...always so lovely to hear from you. xo

Serena Lewis said...

Yes, those push-pins are much easier to use plus they look so much prettier than the standard type.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Von! You can buy the push-pins from Woollies in the stationery section and, yes, they are much easier to grasp than the standard ones. These ones are Artrite Jumbo push-pins if memory serves me correctly. As for the doodle sketch, I'm using a mix of mediums...watercolours and Inktense pencils for emphasis.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Jenny! I used watercolours and then Inktense pencils to emphasise the colours more.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Paula. Let's hear it for the green, blue colour schemes! YAY! :)

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Michelle! Yeah, it will be a big job...need to wait til I'm in the mindset to paint. I bought the push-pins from Woollies under Stationery...I think they were called Artrite Jumbo push pins...not sure if they come in different colours tho as I ordered them in my weekly online order. I thought I was ordering the regular type so was VERY happy to get these ones.

So true, Fran....the little things do make it special! Thanks ~

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Juana! I was happy to see the fancy moth as we generally just see the plain, old brown-grey moths.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Trace! I hope I don't end up wrecking the doodle...we shall see. ;)

Thanks, Julie! xo

LOVE your sketch this time, Serena--such happy, joyful colors & shapes! And can't wait to see what that stack of canvases will be. We're doing some interior painting/reno, so my own painting on canvases gets sneaked in at the odd moment as the studio has become storage room temproarily...LOL! Funnily enough, I made blueberry muffins at the weekend too. These your Aaron made look super-yummy! Autumn has arrived here, so time of comfort food. I' think there'll be more muffins! ;o) Happy Days, Serena ((HUGS)) P.S. I'm hosting a giveaway...do stop by to join in on the fun, if you get a chance!

Janet said...

I'm excited to see what those seven canvases become. And your doodle sketch is looking beautiful.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Tracy! I will pop over soon to see if you've put any of your paintings on your blog. Have fun with the reno....you will no doubt love the end result. I'm a new fan of blueberry muffins! Thanks for dropping by ~ xo

P.S. - I'll pop over about the giveaway too.

Serena Lewis said...

Thanks, Janet! The one painting over multiple canvasses is a bit daunting but I think I'll be fine once I get started.

I just made blueberry muffins yesterday. I take my baked goods to work -- makes folks happy. Wish I could get back to walking -- still so hot, and when I get home from work, I don't fee like doing a thing.
Your pups are just so adorable. I love to see their smiley faces. :)
How wonderful that you are taking Alicia's class -- her artwork is amazing. Of course, yours is, too.
Hope your week has been a good one so far.
Best wishes, Tammy

Serena Lewis said...

I'll bet your co-workers loved your blueberry muffins. I get very lethargic during our hot and humid summer months....the high humidity does me in. Alisa has been a great inspiration to me.

Enjoy the rest of your week ~ xo
