Sunday Snippets & Sunday Sketches

Photos from my week!

Blueberry oat muffins made by my son, Aaron.
They were delicious!

Seven of these canvasses will form one painting in the near future.

I got me some push pins in my favourite colours! WHOO HOO!
Green...

Purple and blue...

I was so happy to find these push-pins!

A pretty moth I spotted under the pergola roof.

Aaron and I walked to the park with our dogs, Cody and Jack.
Here is Cody and a wee glimpse of Jack in the top right corner.

A pair of galahs joined us under a tree nearby.
Here is one of them.

Today was quite busy but, for Sunday Sketches,
I did manage to do more work on the doodle sketch.
Still unfinished but getting closer to the finish line.
I should add that this doodle is inspired by Alisa Burke!
I'm taking her Sketchbook Delight 2 class.

    1. Thanks, Melisa! I've never done a 7 canvas painting before so it does feel a little daunting. I'm sure I'll be okay once I get started tho. :)

  4. Those muffins look delicious! I've never seen push pins (so cool!) or a moth like that. You've really got me curious as to what you'll be creating with those seven canvasses! And I love what you are doing with the layers of mandala shapes. I peeked at her website and her classes look like they'd be fun. Enjoy!! Spring for you guys, fall for us. :):)

    1. They were delicious, Rita, and I'm not usually a fan of muffins so that's saying something. Reece wants me to paint a silhouette of and Oriental tree across all seven canvasses....should be interesting. Alisa has been a great inspiration for me. xo

  13. Those pins look so good, I have trouble with the little ones. Looks like you can really get hold of those ones. Your picture is looking so good, those colours are gorgeous. Are you using the Inktense pencils, the colours are so bright.

    1. Thanks, Von! You can buy the push-pins from Woollies in the stationery section and, yes, they are much easier to grasp than the standard ones. These ones are Artrite Jumbo push-pins if memory serves me correctly. As for the doodle sketch, I'm using a mix of mediums...watercolours and Inktense pencils for emphasis.

    1. Thanks, Michelle! Yeah, it will be a big job...need to wait til I'm in the mindset to paint. I bought the push-pins from Woollies under Stationery...I think they were called Artrite Jumbo push pins...not sure if they come in different colours tho as I ordered them in my weekly online order. I thought I was ordering the regular type so was VERY happy to get these ones.

  25. LOVE your sketch this time, Serena--such happy, joyful colors & shapes! And can't wait to see what that stack of canvases will be. We're doing some interior painting/reno, so my own painting on canvases gets sneaked in at the odd moment as the studio has become storage room temproarily...LOL! Funnily enough, I made blueberry muffins at the weekend too. These your Aaron made look super-yummy! Autumn has arrived here, so time of comfort food. I' think there'll be more muffins! ;o) Happy Days, Serena ((HUGS)) P.S. I'm hosting a giveaway...do stop by to join in on the fun, if you get a chance!

    1. Thanks, Tracy! I will pop over soon to see if you've put any of your paintings on your blog. Have fun with the reno....you will no doubt love the end result. I'm a new fan of blueberry muffins! Thanks for dropping by ~ xo

P.S. - I'll pop over about the giveaway too.

  27. I just made blueberry muffins yesterday. I take my baked goods to work -- makes folks happy. Wish I could get back to walking -- still so hot, and when I get home from work, I don't fee like doing a thing.
Your pups are just so adorable. I love to see their smiley faces. :)
How wonderful that you are taking Alicia's class -- her artwork is amazing. Of course, yours is, too.
Hope your week has been a good one so far.
    Best wishes, Tammy
