Sunday Snippets

PHOTOS FROM MY WEEK

My beautiful granddaughter, Mikayla
enjoying a chocolate marshmallow biscuit.

Cody curled up fast asleep

My son lives in the city so we went in to visit him today.
The view from his 60th floor apartment.

We had brunch at The Groove Train by the riverside.

I took some photos on our walk along the riverside.

The Kookaburra Queen paddle wheeler
which takes people on lunch, dinner or special event cruises.
We cruised on this beauty way back in 1998.

A pair of Little Pied Cormorants swimming nearby

The Story Bridge

My favourite tree is the Queensland Bottle Tree
This one was in ANZAC Square

There were a few of these beautiful trees in the Square

I hope you've all been enjoying a beautiful weekend!

  1. Mikayla is growing up so fast! What a cutie she is. The bottle tree is fascinating...I've never seen anything like it before. I love it when you share plants and trees from your part of the world.

I'm not sure I could live 60 stories up in an apartment! My vertigo would probably go crazy but it's an amazing view from there.

    1. Yes, she is, Janet....and she'll have a little sister in a couple of months. We can hardly wait!

Your ears pop going up in the lift and there was one point I thought my vertigo was going to kick in but it didn't. Bradley had a hard time going up in the lift...being hearing impaired, he must have a sensitivity to air pressure.

      Love,

  2. Mikayla is such a doll! Lovely pictures of your "out and about", so nice to see something of where you live. I always pictured Brisbane right on the ocean but here it looks more like it's on a river...maybe it's both! love and hug, Kate

Woops, I got confused with your comment boxes and posted to facebook instead, so now I'm doing both.

    1. That's okay, Kate...you can post to whichever comment box is easier for you. Yep, Brisbane is situated by the Brisbane River and if often called the River City. I think the bay-side areas are maybe a 30 minute drive from the city centre while the coast is further on.

  3. I love 'Sunday Snippets' - it's kind of like my "Where I Stand Sunday". Good choices - you really should paint that photo of Miss Mikayla - what a doll! That bottle tree is so interesting - amazing place you live!

    1. I think the down-side is waiting on, and going up in, the lifts. I felt a little dizzy at one point and thought my vertigo would kick in but, luckily, it didn't.

    1. Funnily enough, I thought it would feel scary up that high as I'm not a fan of heights but I actually felt very secure. The view was FANTASTIC!! So much to take in.

      Hugs,

    1. Thanks, Julie. Yes, I was a little dubious about him living 60 floors up but it really does feel secure and I couldn't stop taking in the view....it was awesome! Just think, they get to see all the fireworks when they have events in the city too. Reece is keen to see electrical storms which won't be too long with summer on the way. :)

  14. Mikayla is such a sweetie pie, as usual. :)
60 stories is way too high for me, but I love those bottle trees. Looks like you have a great visit.
    Cody is so cute!

    1. She sure is, Rita! I agree, it was nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live that high up either.
