Some sketches from the week

Another busy week is almost over.  I had a few appointments this week — one of them being a full Lung Function test which was not the most pleasant of tests. I hated having a clamp on my nose for one thing.  The test went for an hour and totally drained me to the point that I no sooner got home than I zonked right out on the couch for a couple of hours. I never sleep throughout the day. It was like I had no energy left in me at all. Have any of you had one of those tests done?  I had both a Spirometry and a Plethysmography done.  I (my lungs) have been feeling out of sorts since having the test done and I don't know if this is normal.

I managed to squeeze in some time for sketching despite the busy week.

Below, was the first pass of watercolour after doing the initial sketch in pen.

Second pass of watercolour

Final pass with more pen detailing
Highlights were done with a POSCA white acrylic pen

My metal water bottle

A wooden pendant that I wear a lot

I'm linking up to Paint Party Friday again. To see the work of the week's participants, click HERE.

  6. Hi Serena, your sketches are so well drawn, and I loved seeing your watercolour passes - always interesting to watch your work methods. Your detailing is so fine and delicate as in the leaf on your bottle. The pendant is beautiful, no wonder it's a favourite.
No wonder you were tired having had both of those tests. I've only had the Spirometry - they'd prove very helpful though I'm sure, so all the best for that. Cheers now and hope you had a lovely Australia Day :D)

    1. Thanks, Jen. :) I'm still not 100% but, hopefully, the test results will shed some light on the matter.

  10. That does sound like an exhausting test! When do you get the results?

I especially love the step by step with the shell! Gorgeous. :)

  11. Great job getting some sketching in despite the medical appointments.

I've never had one of those tests, and hope I never have to. I always struggle enough with an oxygen mask over my face, and know I'd find dealing with a clamp on my nose difficult. You'd think I'd be used to the mask with all the times I've been in hospital and needed one. But I just hate the thing.

    1. By the way... I hope you feel better soon, and that the results give answers that mean the doctors can do something for you.

    2. Thanks, Tori. You sound like me — I hate having anything on my nose and I don't like oxygen masks either. I feel like I want to rip them off my face so I can breathe which is silly really when their purpose IS to help me breathe better. haha

  12. You are such a talent and your art inspiring. I have not had the lung test but was with my mom many times when she had to have it done. Not fun. Sending healing energy.

  13. That's exactly what happens with me. As you said, it's silly really when the purpose of them is to help us breathe, but that knowledge doesn't stop the feeling.

  14. Your sketches are really beautiful, and I might covet that pendent a little bit.

Hope your lung function test results are good.

  16. That sounds like a very unpleasant test! I've never had any of those lung tests, but I hope it'll feel better again soon! Love your shell paintings! And that bottle looks like a SIGG bottle. I have several of those, as I've started to avoid plastic bottles a while ago. Also, I like to keep my bottle clean, and only fill it with water, so I'm now not tempted anymore to buy those suga.ry drinks

    1. It took me a week to recover from the test and the results were good. Glad you like the sketches. The water bottle is branded as Cheeki here but I notice countries can brand products with different names. I found that with a sketchbook recently. These bottles are made in China. I've only ever put water in mine as it's definitely better for the body. I'm thankful I've never had a sweet tooth so I very rarely have sugary drinks. :)
