Some sketches from the week

Another busy week is almost over.  I had a few appointments this week — one of them being a full Lung Function test which was not the most pleasant of tests. I hated having a clamp on my nose for one thing.  The test went for an hour and totally drained me to the point that I no sooner got home than I zonked right out on the couch for a couple of hours. I never sleep throughout the day. It was like I had no energy left in me at all. Have any of you had one of those tests done?  I had both a Spirometry and a Plethysmography done.  I (my lungs) have been feeling out of sorts since having the test done and I don't know if this is normal.

I managed to squeeze in some time for sketching despite the busy week.

Below, was the first pass of watercolour after doing the initial sketch in pen.

Second pass of watercolour

Final pass with more pen detailing
Highlights were done with a POSCA white acrylic pen

My metal water bottle

A wooden pendant that I wear a lot

Sketches galore!

March is my birthday month so
I decided to set myself a personal challenge.
The plan is to sketch daily although
I've given myself permission to miss a day
here and there.
So far, I've stayed on track!

The following sketches are all pencil-free.
They are sketched from life, not photos,
using pens of various types and colour,
in my pocket Moleskine sketchbook.

Day 01 - a Faber-Castell PITT pen in a grey shade
This is one of my newer tools.
I bought a Faber-Castell Manga PITT pen set which included five shades of grey.
Nope, NOT fifty!

Day 02 - my feet
Five days after this sketch,
I broke the little toe on my right foot.
A month prior to that,
I broke the little toe on my left foot.
Both bruised very badly and
were oh so painful.
I can't wear closed-in shoes
at the moment due to the pain.

Day 03 - a large shell from my collection

Day 04 - another large shell from my collection

Day 05 - My Buddha bell

Day 06 - I sketched this apple late at night
using only BIC ballpoint pens and a hint of black PITT pen to emphasise.
I was quite pleased with how this one turned out.
Here is a link to the BIC pens I used as well as a review - BIC Cristal Pocket Scents

Day 07 - decorative bulldog clips
I spotted a packet of these cute clips featuring various designs
in our local newsagency.
Naturally, I just HAD to have them!
Aren't they cute?

Day 08 - my old prescription glasses
I use them only to tighten the tiny screws on my newer glasses.
I would never be able to wear them for more than a few minutes at a time
because the prescription strength is so poor compared to my current glasses.
It's a sad fact that my poor old eyes are getting old....
OH okay, that includes the rest of me as well.

I'm linking up with Sunday Sketches today at this link.

Day 4 - Shells - Blogtoberfest

Today, Brad, Beau, Aaron (sons) and I had a lovely lunch out at a local tavern
with my Mum and Dad.
Michelle (daughter) and Mikayla (Granddaughter) came along too.
My Dad was lucky enough to win just over $1200 on the Pokies!
Mum won two separate lots of $40 while Brad won $30.
Michelle and I had no luck at all. :(
I must admit that I've never been a fan
of poker machines.
I find them to be quite boring.
And, no, that's not sour grapes! lol

Anywhoo, I decided on 'shells' for my sketch today.
I love shells and have them displayed
around the house.
I adore anything to do with the sea.
I love the colours of the bottles in the pic below.
They also make me think of the sea.

So here it is....

My #4 sketch in the "75 sketches in 75 consecutive days" challenge.

I'm feeling quite tired so I think I'll be getting an early night.

How was your day?
