Sulking dog and handbag contents...what's a girl to do?

I'm feeling a little down at the moment. We have to pop out for the afternoon because Brad has an Endocrinologist appointment and Cody knows....there he is sulking under a chair. Bless his little heart. He's not a happy boy and is doing his utmost best to make me feel guilty and.....it's working. He usually senses when we are going out and it was confirmed this morning when he saw me emptying out the contents of my bag as I decided to take a different one to the hospital. I hate having to leave him home alone. I truly do. He suffers separation anxiety and it makes me feel like I'm the worst person in the world. I make short trips to the shops but I rarely leave him for longer periods. I still have four kids living at home so there is usually someone here to keep him company but....not today.

  1. Boy, he certainly can look devastatingly dejected! Hope everyone (the biped and the quadruped alike) is okay at the end of the day.

*Serena, we got the package. Thank you so much! And, we e-mailed you.

  2. Hi, Luci! All went well today, thanks. Cody got so excited when we arrived home. We have to go through the whole process again next week when Brad sees the Ophthalmologist.

I'm so glad Christer got the package! Thanks so much for your email and pics....Aaron loved it!

  5. Serena, He'll be fine. Our cat did that for about a year or so. Everytime we would go for a walk, or try to, she would follow us. We had to pick her up, take her back and put her in the house. After a while, she got to know that we were always coming back and then she would just sit at the top of the driveway and wait for us. She was seriously anxious and still is a little like that, but on a much reduced level. Now she just gives us a big lecture when we get home. Cody will be fine. He'll figure out that you will come back to him.... Ro

  6. He looks soooo sad! Isn't it amazing how animals can pick up on the signals and know when we're going out. My cats even do that! They will follow me to the door and stick their noses outside just far enough that I have to push them back inside....and it always makes me feel so bad to leave them.

  7. Isn't it funny how animals can pick up on the signals. My cats do the same thing. When I get ready to go out they follow me to the door and it makes me so sad to leave them.

  8. Thanks, Brad....you'll have to get cracking on your own blog....it's been a while since you posted. :)

Anita! I'm so glad the package arrived safe and sound. I bought the raw MDF pencil case and painted it from there. I also made up the little pouch of sentiments. I'm so glad and relieved that you liked what I sent you. :)

Ro, I hope he eventually settles. He hates me going out at night even when the boys are home. The boys tell me that Cody lets out little howls and lies at the door waiting. My poor, little man ~

Janet, animals do become very attached to their humans, don't they? Luckily, I'm a bit of a home-body so he doesn't have to pine too often.

  9. Oh your pup looks so sad. My siamese kitty is like this and gets really anxious when I leave. She comes running up to the door and tells me all about it when I come home. Luckily, I stay home a lot so she doesn't have to worry about it to much. We are leaving on vacation in June so I am hoping she won't be to stressed even though my son will be home.

I missed on the operation?? I hope all and everyone is well.

    Take care

  11. Aww, poor guy. Dogs really know how to put on those sad faces.

  12. Mine does the same...she tries every trick in the book every morning as we are leaving, to get us to stay...it racks me with guilt. I'm taking her with us on vacation...can't stand to leave her!!!

  13. Becky, I'm sure your kitty will miss you terribly in June but it's good your son will be there for her. All is well with Brad, thanks. No surgery, just his routine Specialist visits.

Thanks for the sentiments, Maria, Anne and Julie. I'm glad I'm not the only sook around when it comes to pets.

    Awwwwwwwww thanks, Nic! :)
