.....because i won a magical choker/necklace over on luci's blog. YAY!!! click here to see my prize close up and read all about it's magical properties. THANK YOU, LUCI! i love it and here is a 'self-portrait' of me wearing it - i have a new admiration for all the bloggers out there who participate in the self-portrait challenge because i found it very difficult to get the camera at the right angle. maybe i should have tried a larger mirror. lol anyways, i sure hope my muse is all geared up because i'm planning on getting stuck into a few painting projects next week.
on another note, i would like to say a heartfelt thank you for all the support and kindness we have received from my blog friends on the passing of my ex-husband. it has meant a great deal to me and the kids.

I look forward to seeing what you are going to paint next. And your new necklace looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteIt is clever how you took the photo! For some reason it reminds me of a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott. It must be because you are looking out of a mirror.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda ~ :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nick...maybe it is the mirror ~ :)
What a wonderful, charming, joyous, magical fairy necklace! You must, must wear it when you paint!! :):)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous...;o) What an awesome gift and I can't think of a nicer person to receive it. I know you are well looked after by your muse, just look at your talent, but now you're guaranteed to have fairies to help to... Ro
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in your necklace peering out at us from the mirror. If your photography is anything like your painting we should all get ready to be blown away! You have such an amazing talent. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your self portrait and the necklace is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've tried doing the mirror thing before to get a photo up with my profile and I can't see to do very good...but then I look at what I'm working with, hahaha! and that would be me.
Serena, you are stunning. I love that necklace. What a wonderful gift to receive.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

hi Serena..
ReplyDeletereally clever sp ..the necklace compliments the frame of the mirror..
I love your kookaburra header :)
did you paint it ?..
I was sorry to read about your ex husband ...
Thanks, Rita....I fully intend to wear it, especially when I feel lacking for inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ro. Luci is so talented and makes such pretty things. I consider myself very lucky indeed. :)
Thanks, Janet. I hope I can live up to your praise. :)
Thanks, Sandy....and just between you and me, I had a lot of failed attempts at the self-portrait before I finally managed to get myself featured in the mirror at a suitable angle. ;) Don't give up on self-portrait, just practise holding the camera in different positions and I'm sure you will do okay ~ :)
Thanks for the lovely compliment, Becky ~ :)
Thanks for popping over and for you nice comment, Kim! Yes, I did paint the kookaburra in the header, thanks. And thanks also for your kind words on my ex-husband's passing. :)
I love the portrait of you looking through the mirror! What a great necklace! I love handmade things too, especially if they hold a special meaning like this one.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Serena!!!
Oh Serena - so sorry to learn of the sadness you and your children have suffered recently. The poem was incredibly moving.
ReplyDeleteLike the necklace and I thought you were clever photo'ing yourself in a mirror without showing the camera.
Hey Serena - just noticed you kindly commented on a number of my posts all at once. Now I know what you mean. Yes, I love the handmade sketchbook I had created by Chalk Studios for my floral sketches from my garden. We enjoyed the garden workshop too. Thanks for taking the trouble.
ReplyDeleteOOH a self portrait challenge...I may have to check that out.
ReplyDelete:)
Great picture of you, and fabulous necklace!
Serena, this is a great self-portrait! You looked lovely peering out of the mirror, and the background with Aaron doing something totally different creates an interesting tableau.
ReplyDelete*I just have to say it again: your long neck is perfect to wear chokers! :)
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, Serena! Congrats!
