Mikayla's finished Christmas ornament

Hi everyone!

Well, Christmas is over for another year. I had a lovely time on Christmas day. We had a bit of a movie marathon, pigged out on nibblies, and then ate a delicious roast dinner. We were so full, there was no room in our tummies for dessert so, we will be having the Christmas pudding with custard for New Year's Eve instead.

Just thought I'd show you all the finished ornament I painted for Mikayla, my beautiful granddaughter.

I glued Christmas-themed craft paper onto a Papier-mâché box and used double-sided tape to attach the ribbons halfway up each side of the box.

It's a wrap!

-------------------------------------------------------

I've had more bad days health-wise lately so, yesterday, when Beau offered to drive us out to our favourite picnic spot in the country, how could I say no?  The weather was perfect and it was so peaceful and relaxing...just what I needed. I had told everyone to lather up with sunscreen before we left the house to go to Burgess Park but I ended up being the silly one who forgot so I copped a good dose of sunburn.  It didn't spoil the day though.

I'll post pics from our day trip tomorrow.

  3. That Santa has so much character. Such a lovely tradition to start for Mikayla. Hope the sunburn isn't so bad and that the sunshine and fresh air actually did you some good. I am waking up with headaches every day. Though our weather is nice, it is warmer than usual. Lots of folks are getting sick but so far we've avoided any bugs around here. Have a great rest of the week and a wonderful new year. Tammy

  5. That came out amazing. What a gorgeous ornament she'll keep forever. What material is the ornament? Is it breakable or like a papermache?

  6. Thanks, everyone!

Gina - The ornament is bisque ceramic which I painted with acrylics.

I'm glad you got out, but then you forgot the sunscreen--LOL! Oh well, you had a good time.

I hope you aren't trying to tough this out too much before your doctor comes back? Please take care of yourself. I worry about you. xoxo *lots of hugs*

  13. That ornament is amazing - your Santa is so friendly! I too have been caught in that sunscreen trap - I was so busy getting it onto everyone else that I forget me. You'd think I'd learn a bit faster than I have with this - now my family spends as much time reminding me as I remind them...

  15. This is really beautiful Serena...such a treasure! I'm so sorry that your health hasn't been that great recently...I hope the new year brings you some relief. I must say that you're amazingly prolific with your creativity through all you have to cope with and I really admire you for that. Sending much love to you and your family for 2012 (can't believe we're almost there!).
