Recuperating now that the festivities have died down...

The boys and I went to
Michelle and Alex's house
for a Christmas brunch.
Alex's (son-in-law) family were there also
and it was lovely to catch up with them.
It was a very hot and humid day
but it didn't spoil the fun and festivities.

My Secret Santa turned out to be REECE!
He gave me 'The Tournament'
which is a new book by
Matthew Reilly.
AND the first season of
Jamie Oliver's 30 minute Meals!
I love Jamie Oliver!
I was thrilled with my gifts.
Thanks, Reece (No. 3 son)!

Then yesterday for Boxing Day
we had my parents
along with Michelle, Alex, and the girls
at our house for a hot and cold lunch.
Again, it was very hot and humid
and I felt like I was in a sauna all day long.
Despite the heat, everyone had a great time and the best part
was that I got to spend even more time
with my two gorgeous granddaughters.
I adore these little munchkins SO much!

Today, my body is screaming with pain
which is normal after busy or festive days
so I plan to put the feet up and rest.
I may even start my new book.

My gardenia shrub is in full bloom now
and the flowers are gorgeous!
Their perfume is amazing!

What did you do for Christmas and/or Boxing Day?
Feel free to share in the Comments section.
If you don't celebrate Christmas
but enjoy the season in a another way
please feel free to share that too.

I leave you with some wise words from Gandalf.

  1. Hi Serena, always fun to read your blog for many reasons, but especially because we are at opposites sides of the planet and here it's very cold winter. Sounds like you had a great Christmas and Boxer's Day - don't have that one here. We don't celebrate Christmas in the way that most Americans do (gifting, worshipping at church, etc.). I usually spend the day in the studio, it's a special day to paint and that's just what I did. We had a special dinner - enjoy that, we are thankful for our many blessings - health and life and family. The weather is usually 'iffy' for travel..so it's not the time we see our kids and grandkids. I just took a trip to see my dad about 300 miles away, while the weather gave a break. I like what Gandalf has to say - I second that. Hope your pain is better today. I know the feeling.

    1. I'm so glad you enjoy my blog, Pattie. What a fabulous way to spend Christmas day! My Mum has always said that she doesn't like the idea of people travelling at Christmas-time due to the dangers on the roads....more drink drivers, more crazy drivers, more busy roads, which can lead to more accidents. It must be so much worse there given the winter conditions you guys get. My pain is still bad but I have to deal with it as best I can seeing as how I can't take my anti-inflammatory medication because it clashes with the new blood pressure medication. I'm managing though. Wishing you a Happy New Year! xo

  2. Sounds like you have had nice family gatherings. Hope you were able to relax a bit. A friend who is having a late Christmas lunch at her place tomorrow, put her back out yesterday somehow and could barely walk today when we met them out. She said as long as she is standing, she is okay, but once she sits down, she can barely move again. We don't do big Christmases like we used to.And honestly, we all have too much so don't really need to do any shopping either. Tomorrow I will be baking pumpkin pie for the lunch -- apparently it will be new for most of the people who are invited. :) Best wishes, Tammy

    1. Your poor friend, Tammy. That's kinda how I am....my back has been playing up quite badly and, some mornings, I have trouble getting out of bed due to the pain. The pain is more bearable when I'm up and about compared to trying to get up after sitting or lying for a period of time. I do hope your friend is improving. Has she seen a doctor yet?

Flowers blooming and sweating--sounds so strange right now--LOL! ;)
Hope you have recovered some. I guess I might have yet another author to remember for the library.
Happy New Year! Be sure and show us what you do with your treasured prize!! ;)
