busy hands

i am crochet obsessed lately!!

i find i can no longer sit idly in front of the tv so i have been keeping my hands busy with a crochet hook and some wool.

i currently have not one but two throw blankets on the go
although the granny stripe is pretty and eye-catching,
i love the ripple pattern best of all.
do you have a preference?

now don't be shocked but...

i actually opened my sketchbook the other day and played with some watercolours on a background so there's hope for me yet.

here i am at my art desk feeling quite happy and smug about it
i chose this pic for week 29 in the 52 weeks of me project

brad, aaron and i went to see the last harry potter movie yesterday.
i LOVED it and it has made me want to finally get around to reading the books. i've seen the last three harry potter movies in full but have only ever caught glimpses of the earlier ones when the kids watched them. i'm now looking forward to the complete harry potter experience.

i've been a bit under the weather this past week but seem to be on top of it now.
just in time for my rheumatologist appointment tomorrow.
wish me luck.

i hope you are all having a wonderful week.

~ love, light and peace ~

  1. Hi Mum,

This is a great post! I love what you've been doing with both blankets in the first few pictures! I don't know what one I like, I'm liking the look of both of them! I also love seeing your watercolour work! You're pretty good!

As for Harry Potter, I really enjoyed the movie as well, but it is so sad that the series have now come to an end. Oh well, at least there is The Chronicles Of Narnia to go now, only 4 more books in that series left to be made into movies!

I hope you enjoy your Harry Potter Experience!

    Love Brad!

  2. What a colourful through, and yes, I prefer the ripple pattern too. So effective.
    All the best for tomorrow

  3. They are both really nice. I love the bright colors on the stripes, but the ruffled one looks softer to actually snuggle up to, you know?

Paints! Wow! I love the backgrounds you did--and the picture!! :):)

I've seen all the Harry Potter movies but the last one. From what I've heard, the movies are a little different from the books--that they changed some things. Not a huge surprise. They so often do when they make movies. I only read the first one or two books--but I think I'm fine with just seeing the movies. ;) Not enough time to do all the things I'd like to do, you know? LOLOL!

Sorry you've not been up to snuff. I know how that goes. Let us know what happens with the rheumatologist, okay? Best to you, Sweetie!! :):)

  4. Too bad you and I don't live closer. We could crochet the day away together. It's all I've been doing lately too, but on a much smaller scale. I've not tried a ripple -- will start with a baby blanket when I decide to give it a go. I love the granny stripe so much since it works up so quickly. Hope your appointment goes well. Best wishes, Tammy

  6. I think all artists go through a phase where they go and do something else for a while. Just a way of rejuvenating oneself I think. The crochet is beautiful and I look forward to seeing what you do with that lovely water colour background.

  16. The colors in the granny stripe are gorgeous! I love it but I also think the ripple pattern is great, too.

I'm probably one of a small handful of people on this earth who haven't read any of the Harry Potter books or seen any of the movies.

  23. Like the watercolour, you can see the influence of the blankets. I'd leave it as it is - an interesting abstract.
