My favourite colours

This week in the Artist's Play Room group, Jenn asked us to share our favourite colour/s.

When I was a young girl, my favourite colour was lime green.

As a teenager, my favourite colour was purple.

As the years went on, I never lost my love for lime green and purple and,
between my teenage years and adulthood, I fell in love with turquoise blue too.
So that is my favourite colour combination.

I use them in my studio

Throughout my home and in my art.

Unfortunately, I've had a very busy week and time got away from me so I only have a work-in-progress to show for  the APR weekly art challenge featuring my favourite colours.  A partial layer with lots more to do.  I plan to finish it over the weekend and will post the finished page soon.

  1. Gorgeous Serena!! I love how you showed the progression and your colour love over time. I am much the same with my rainbow colours. and yet, as I have travelled through this week's APRs I am seeing that what I love is colour. Even the colour that comes of just adding white to black or black to white. the colours that introduce themselves and then are never quite exactly the same. this is why I think the paint stores sell so much paint BEcause when they are mixing a colour you just never can find the same again, so better stock up on it NOW!! LOL!! didn't know I used to BE a painter's helper painting houses and such, but there you go, a piece of my story as I read yours... gorgeous piece you're sharing here, too. can't wait to see it!!

    1. Thanks, Currie! I do like all colours but these three are my favourites. Yep, paint stores do mix tons of different colours....sometimes, even then, it's hard to find an exact colour I'm after. lol

    1. Yes they are....I find when I have my blue and green bed linen on the bed, I am so relaxed and calm. Yet, when I have the multi-coloured bed linen on, I feel agitated and out of sorts. The blue and green set definitely have a calming affect on me.

    1. Thanks, Terri! I'll love pastels but have found myself drawn to more richer and vibrant colours over the past few years. This piece will be richer and more vibrant too by the time I'm finished...well, that's the plan anyways but we all know anything can happen during the creative process.

  12. I love all your photos and your WIP. It is so much fun, both the colors and the circles. I think the feeling of needing circles right now is in the atmosphere! I have been wanting circles, and have seen other artists using them too.

  16. Wow! The piece you're working on is fantastic! As for colors, I think I could have written this blog post as these are colors I always move towards when I do art. Purple has been my all-time favorite but I find I'm also drawn to turquoise and lime green with maybe a little bit of hot pink added in.

  18. I love the paint tubes, colours always look so yummy when you look at the ends of tubes. Your mandala is so beautiful, the colours are wonderful. Your studio reminds me of Tracey FK's, all neat and ready for action, just fab. Thought you might have had your new mug in the picture, but can't see it, it sounds gorgeous though.

    1. Thanks, Von! Sadly, in recent weeks, my studio has been relocated to the garage....still a nice set-up tho. I'm envious of Tracey's studio...love all the whites! Not a new mug...I've had it for a few years now and I just love the colours and design which has worn off around the top due to scrubbing off tea stains. :( I'll try to post it one day soon. :)

  21. Those are 3 delightful colors together! I especially like the lime green. Yum. I saw your finished creation on the post above and like it a lot, but I have to say that this unfinished one has a very attractive simplicity to it as well!
