today starts a month of daily challenges....

.....and soul searching.

ART EVERY DAY CHALLENGE/NABLOPOMO
i'm actually quite excited that i made it through the first day. i had no prior plans in place as i just thought i'd go with wherever the day took me art-wise. i did set my alarm an hour earlier so, this morning, i jumped out of bed at 4 AM, instead of the usual 5 AM. i did some morning pages which i haven't done for ages so it seems i am getting back into old habits which i see as a positive. here is a sketchbook page i did today signifying some of the things i did.

aaron and i also had a play with an art atomiser/diffuser for the first time. what fun we had with that. at first, i couldn't get the paint to spray out of the spout but, finally, got the hang of it.
this is my efforts so far on a background -

...and aaron's -

unfortunately, the glare spoiled this pic so I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow as it looks so much better in reality than this shows.

SOUL COACHING -
jamie, organiser of the blog book club thought it would be a good idea to use the first of the month as preparation and reading the introduction to the book. then we will work through it day by day until the 29th and use the 30th as a summary/closer.

so, today, i arranged my altar -

....and wrote out my sacred contract on the first page of the journal i will be using the record my progress each day.

i plan to add to my altar as i progress through the book.

all in all, it's been a pretty good day....a few distractions but i handled them okay. wish me luck for tomorrow.

I love your journal page & your contract . . . jumping out of bed at 4am, how ever do you do that? LOL I can hardly drag myself out at 6am most mornings :D

Have you read Kelly Rae's book? It has a lot of soul-searching in that too, which I'm finding very helpful.

    Till tomorrow, namaste

  9. The page in your sketchbook is wonderful. I love the colors and circles. And your alter is fantastic! I have a couple of Buddhas but mine are smaller than yours.

The sacred contract is a good idea. A nice way to hold yourself accountable. I usually begin with great intentions and then fizzle out about midway through!

  19. Thank you all for your wonderful words of encouragement and support. :)

Maria, I've always been an early bird so feel fairly refreshed in the mornings. I find late nights harder to do and usually start yawning from around 9:30 PM. Yes, I'm still making my way through Kelly Rae's book and find it inspiring and a great compliment to my own soul journey. I'm loving your latest project inspired by one of her projects.....can't wait to see it finished. :)

  23. What beautiful art! Having no artistic talent of my own, I resorted to istockphoto for my image. And got a day ahead, as I blew through the intro and went ahead to day one. So much for reading the instructions!

  24. What a great post! I like the way you apportion the entry into different sections, Serena. It is very well organized. What an awesome way to catch your soul with such clear presentation, and uncluttered with different themes. I like your altar. You mention that you will add more to it. I am looking forward to see how your altar evolves. Your contract shows that you are serious about this. Your sketch is wonderful, and the atomizer is great. I like how you include Aaron in your activity. Once again, altogether a great post!

  25. What a way to start the month! :) Beautiful sacred space you have made--will love to see it if you add to it.

Awesome color on your atomizer paintings you and Aaron worked on. I love that you two do artistic endeavors together! Is that an atomizer that you blow through? Did you use acrylic paint? Just curious. Have seen one for sale at Cheap Joe's that I had wondered about. Could I ask where you got yours? :)
