she is now......finished

i knew when i mentioned previously about being unsure if she had needed something else that i would definitely fiddle some more. a purple butterfly in the top left corner had been in the back of my mind and it seems a few of you were thinking the same thing. i also liked ro's suggestion of a chain around her neck so i painted an amethyst stone to match in with the added rub-on butterflies. now, i feel that she is complete. thanks so much for all your wonderful advice.

i'm off to buy a new fridge today! YAY! the tuckerbox freezer died on me two weeks ago and had to be replaced.....now, the fridge is barely hanging on. admittedly, it's been a bit of a pain for the eight years we've had it as it hasn't coped well with the heat of our summers at all. so, it's time for a replacement.

what are you doing today?

She's so beautiful!! I love the colors in the background. Are those postcards?? I love her translucent white wings and the butterflies too!! You are very talented...

Thanks, Kelly! I first pasted on a layer of cut up greeting cards etc. (postcards would be great too)....which I then painted over with washes of chosen colours, then I painted her over the top, again with layers of washes, still allowing the previous layers to show through. If you copy and paste this link, it will show you this painting develop from start to finish with some explanation of the process too. :) http://artbyserena.blogspot.com/search/label/work%20in%20progress

Your painting is really lovely Serena. I love her gossamer wings...they're just perfect! Do you think this painting may reflect a new you that you're birthing...spreading your wings to fly in 2009?

(I sense changes moving within you!)
