Day 9 - Blogtoberfest - Trimmers

One of my favourite plants

'Dracaena massangeana'

known as a 'Happy Plant' in this neck of the woods.

It was a pet grooming day again today.
You may remember that
I trimmed Cody on Sunday
and complained mercilessly about the new trimmers.
Well, today, I managed to get them working for Jack.
Jack's fur is quite coarse so I'm not sure if this made the difference.
I guess I won't know until it's time to trim Cody again.

Anywhoo, after bathing, drying, and trimming Jack,
my back started acting up and
I was so NOT in the mood to sketch
but sketch I did.

My VERY quick and loose rendition of the pet trimmers.

#9 or 75 pen/ink only sketches

66 more pen/ink daily sketches to go!

At the moment, I feel all clogged up like I have a bad head cold
but I'm not sure if it's a form of allergy because I felt this same way just
the other day and was totally clear again within hours.
Weird....

I'm off to have some home-made vegetable soup for dinner.
We had it last night too and it was delicious!
I LOVE home-made soups!

Enjoy your week!

  2. Nice sketch. Is it hard to trim? I have my dog and annoyed with groomers, but have to go to them often because my dog develops hot spots quickly if her fur is not short. May be I could do it myself?

    1. If the trimmers cooperate, it's quite easy....just attach the size of blade guide you want to use for length and away you go. If your dog is used to trimmers, it should be even easier for you than it was for me. Cody only went to the 'dog parlour' in his early years...I took over and clipped him with the scissors but my hands are protesting since I developed arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. The trimmers are definitely easier and much quicker. Your poor doggy....my sister's golden retriever used to get hot spots and I know they can be quite dangerous.:( My advice would be to pay out a little extra money for a quality pair of trimmers. I plan to.

    1. Thanks, Paula....although the trimmers still weren't up to par. I need to pay out for a better quality set.

  4. Even if the trimmer doesn't work so good you still made a great sketch of it. And veggie soup...YUM!

  5. hope the head cold goes away. by the end of the day at the dog groomers my back would be killing me, but that was why people brought their dogs in, so they wouldn't have hurt backs :p

  7. Great quick sketch--wow! I'm glad you got the trimmer to work on Jack, anyways. You guys have the heat early and we have the cold early.

I hope the stuffiness and such faded away this time, too. Summer colds are the pits. Maybe it's allergies? Not that they aren't annoying, too. I've been blowing my nose a lot lately. Thought it would quit with the freezing cold. Oh well. Soon, I hope. No more flies anyways--lol!

I can see why they call that the happy plant. :) Have a great Wednesday!

  8. Glad you got the clippers to work!!! Hope you are feeling better soon. I have had those things like that that sort of come and go quickly...it is very strange.

  9. The sketch is great despite working through the pain. I hope sketching kept your mind off it for a while at least. I'm sure the dogs are grateful for all you do for them. Lucky they!

  10. yeh...I want heat too...hahhaha....we already had our first frost a few days ago and it killed off my potted plants. I should have or could have at least covered some pots if I had been thinking more clearly. The days are still o kay...although they are calling for mixed precipitation today.... darn it! And the wind is reeeellly blowing and cold. the furnace is not permanently hooked up yet... but, the electrician is here whittling away at things...so maybe by day's end... some of the lights are back in action.... beginning to come together ...slowly...slowly....

Love your pelican....they are such funny and yet amazing birds. I wonder if ours have taken off by now...they migrate to miles and miles away in the souther states..... and, the robins will be leaving any day too..... they have totally stripped the Mayday tree of its berries ....and usually leave about the 15th of the month...not to be seen again til mid March....I miss them and their chirpy songs...
