To think it started out as a little baby that hitch-hiked its way home
with a different succulent I bought back in 2009.
This one is obviously a slow-grower.

I've had vertigo hanging over me all day today.
Such a weird, woozy-like feeling.
It's a wonder I managed my daily sketch at all
but I did.
Sketch #3 of the 75 sketches in 75 day project.

such a lovely rendering of succulents. I too, love the look of succulents. Their puffy leaves are so interesting. I always want to squeeze them! Great drawing and so brave of you to not allow pencil.

I like to look back at the early photos too. At one point, I didn't think the delicate baby was going to make it but it kept hanging in there and look at it now. I'm so happy!

Yes, that's right, Jo....not sure about the top one but the one I sketched belongs to the Jade family. I'll have to ask Julie, another blog friend, who is big into succulents.

A lovely sketch - I do have to confess to not being a lover of succulents. It is a pleasure to view your talent though.
I'm late getting here and I see everyone else has said what I thought...it's a jade plant. I've had them before and love how you can just break off a branch and start another plant.

Thanks, Elissa. Many years ago, I felt the same about succulents...not a fan at all but they've grown on me as the years have passed. :)
Hmmmmm....I don't think the succulent in the top pic is a jade plant as I have a few of those already but this one grows differently. The one I sketched is a member of the Jade plant family. I'm determined to find out it's name and will report back. :)
Great sketch, Serena. I love succulents and had three in my townhouse when I first moved here in 2004. I had also brought a prickly pear cactus with me and planted it in a place where no one working on the property would get "stuck". But alas, the powers that be made me get rid of it! Your photos are also beautiful to look at.
isn't that simple aloe vera? when we were little we would break open a leaf and rub the gooey insides over burns, over cuts, over sunburns - it really took the pain out. now you can buy it in the pharmacy in a tube. in plant form - it looks exactly like your drawing
So sorry I am so late for APR this week... but glad I got here in the end because I love succulents... they are about the only thing that is growing at the moment in this dry weather!!!! I love seeing your sketching and line work... so inspiring Serena!!!
