AEDM - Day 2 - Giraffe Planter

Hi everyone,

It feels great to be sketching again. I hope I can keep it up.

Today, I decided to sketch my ornamental Giraffe Planter.

First I did a freehand sketch in graphite before applying watercolours. I made the nose a little too long but that's okay.

And the double page spread awaiting some journaling

This giraffe planter sits on my art desk along with some other animal ornaments

Stay tuned for more sketches tomorrow.

Love, Light, and Peace to All.

  1. Hi, that is a gorgeous piece, both the real one and the art. You even paint the decorations on it :)

  2. That's a cool planter. Actually I like both the giraffe and the rhino. And the glass squirrel too. And your drawing of the giraffe is great. Nice journal page!

The white detail must have taken quite a while! Really nice! :)

    1. Thanks, Gina. Yes, I usually add some journaling of the days events or about the sketch itself. :)

    1. No need to apologise. I've fallen behind on comments myself with my busy day yesterday. I'm glad you like the giraffe planter sketch. A lot of times, I do step-by-step images with explanations of the piece I'm working on at the time as it helps my readers see the process. I will try to do a few of those this month. Enjoy your day! :)

  9. I'm running behind, Serena. I hope to catch up soon. Your planter is lovely, but your drawing is amazing. I love how you used the watercolor, which for me is completely unpredictable.

    1. My busy day yesterday has put me a day behind on comments so I totally understand. Glad you like the planter. :) I mostly work wet on dry with watercolour and blend on the page while the colours are still wet.
