hi everyone

for the majority of the day, i was lying on the couch with my feet elevated as they were very sore and swollen. i think it was due to all the walking i've done this week. hopefully, it will be better tomorrow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
for some reason, my chilli plant has decided to go all mutant on me. my chillies should look like this. note how they are nearly three times longer than they are wide?
well, for some unknown reason, they are now looking like this!
this one obviously tried to get some length but it just didn't happen.
it's a mystery i tell you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
on a sad note, at 11AM today, we stood and paid our respects to our fallen soldiers in one minute's silence for Remembrance Day. the bugle on the TV played The Last Post and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
my heartfelt and sincere thanks to the men and women of our armed services
~ love, light and peace ~
Oh, the rose is deeper red and I like it even more! The color is so rich. Nice!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I had to chuckle at the peppers. It is a mystery, but they do look kind of silly. They should taste the same, I would think, right? Hopefully?
All the men and women who go off to war deserve our thanks. I would be worthless as a soldier. They are crazy brave to do what they do.
Have a quiet, peaceful, healing weekend, my friend! :):)
Nice job on the rose. What a beautiful page in your book! Thank you also for the remembrance day poem.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose journal page...love your work. An awesome piece for a day that marks and honors those that have served!
ReplyDeleteThe rose is beautiful...I liked it even at yesterday's stage.
ReplyDeleteForgotten what I was going to say now!!
Back later.
Gwen xx
Think I was going to say you have given me the incentive to use my Inktense sticks more often... :))
I really like how your journal page came out. It was great to see the process there. Sometimes I get so far with a project and I get stuck. I have a hard time getting it to the "finished" point. You did a lovely job of that. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for your peppers, are they in containers? That can have a dwarfing effect on them. You can find peppers that are meant to grow in pots and they tend to do much better.
The rose is exquisite...what a velvety finish! The Inktense pencils are on my holiday wish-list. ;o)
ReplyDeleteThe rose is beautiful, and a perfect colour for today.
ReplyDeleteI also get rather emotional at the last post, so many memories :(
The rose turned out so beautiful. Those inktense pencils are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteCan't help you with your peppers. I don't have a green thumb!
Serena, you've got a knack with those inktense pencils. That's a very pretty rose. As for the peppers, perhaps you got another variety than what the plant was labelled. They look similar to scotch bonnet peppers, only they're the wrong color.
ReplyDeleteSerena
ReplyDeletethat rose is fantastic! I like how you have it shown with and without the text. Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful Serena. I feel like I could just reach right through the computer screen and pluck a petal off your lovely rose. I've just caught up on all your previous posts this past week. All of your sketches are amazing. Sorry to hear about your asthma attack. But glad to hear you treated yourself to some art supplies so that you can continue to create beautiful artwork. Have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose!
ReplyDeleteMy garden is always churning out mutant vegetables, and they are always delicious.
your journal page is absolutely stunning! i love the worlds surrounding the roses!
ReplyDeleteThe journal and rose are beautiful! Those peppers look like habanero peppers which are wicked wicked hot. Hopefully they are just chillies doing their own thing! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely rose! The color is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, I love your rose, I love derwent inktense pencils too! <3
ReplyDeleteYour rose has come through so well, Serena! The colors are gorgeous. I also like the frames your photos are in.
ReplyDeleteHope you are rested and well soon!

Gorgeous rose. Are you sure you don't have two kinds of peppers in one pot? The second picture looks a lot like habaneros.
ReplyDeleteThe color of the rose is beautiful - a fantastic red. The way you wrote around your painting makes the entire page interesting.
ReplyDeletethat rose looks almost real on the page! fantastic!
ReplyDeletehope your feet feel more rested!
Beautiful rose and nice post in general... hope your feet are more settled... these first few humid days wouldn't be helping... and I hope that Cody isn't eating that grass still.... it is the first sign with Mushu as well... fingers crossed he is quietly curled up beside you and not sick xx
ReplyDeleteOh Serena! Somehow you managed to make that rose even better! I can't believe it. I wish I could sit and flip through your art journals. I think I'd get drool on them though.
ReplyDeleteBeeeeeeeeautiful page! Thanks for sharing, much love Jennibellie :) x
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a big deal about your peppers; sometimes things don't grow in the shape they should. I'd still try them when they're ready anyway, personally.
ReplyDeletegorgeous rose Serena, beautiful choice of colours.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see my chilli's last this long, whenever they start to grow they get eaten overnight by grubs, seeds and all. All i'm left with is the stalk. So frustrating! I would love to know the secret for keeping the bugs away.
Lee:)
