i've had some finished paintings stored in the garage for a few years now. i had originally painted for art workshops that i was teaching at the time. the subject, level, and style of the painting was to suit my students' requests and needs....and not something i would have chosen myself.
so, i thought it was high time i took the plunge and gave one of them a facelift
i picked out some decorative papers and glued them in place with matte medium
now the fun will begin once i decide what i'm going to do from here
maybe a mermaid given the theme on the decorative paper?
time will tell

they have such beautiful auras and represent life and hope in many cultures.
i thought i'd share some pics with you of a native australian eucalypt called the scribbly gum tree.
those scribbles are actually made by the larvae of the scribbly gum moth

For once some squiggly graffiti on tree trunks that is natural and not made by man. :) Those are really cool trees. I know that whatever direction you decide to take with your latest project it will be yet another great piece of art. Hope you've had a great day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI too love trees and I am fascinated by how unique each one is. The scribbling on this tree makes it very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to see what you do with this project. Your work is wonderful. I am so glad to have met you on AEDM.
Oooo! I can hardly wait to see what you do with the recycled older paintings!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a tree like that. And larvae make the squiggles?! Wow! That is so cool! I swear it is like you live on a different planet than I do--LOL!
I love trees, too. With all the exotic flowers you have, I imagine you have some pretty cool trees, too. Love to see them. :)
Have a great day!! Or night, I bet, by now. ;)
Ooooh can't wait to see the result of this one! Already excited to see what you're going to do. I actually thought someone had been drawing on trees lol really cool thanks for sharing, hugs Jennibellie :) x (oh and the bespoke glazing thing is just a holder for me to stick cocktails stick in with beads on - to keep them off a surface so I paint them all the way around)
ReplyDeleteTrees are some of my favorite things - especially ones with cool bark to photograph. I am jealous that you have these and we have nothing at all like them!
ReplyDeleteThese trees were just what I needed! I was at a standstill on a painting and these scribbles were the perfect inspiration! Thanks for jump starting my art!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you are taking an old painting canvas and reusing it with something else. I like the papers that you have put down already and I hope that you post this as it evolves. The trees are really cool too. I have ALWAYS been fascinated with trees. They are all unique.
ReplyDeleteI like to recycle my art, too. You're off to a fun start with the mermaids.
ReplyDeleteThe scribbles on the tree are beautiful. Mother Nature has so many tricks up her sleeve!
Love the trees, they are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking last night of heading to the garage for some old canvases to reuse!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the pictures of the trees! They are amazing beings. Personally, I like hugging them. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of people recycling paintings and it's neat to see it in process! I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. :)
Can't wait to see what you do with it next. I have got some paintings which I don't care for very much done in my painting class. I was wondering what to do with them. Now you have given me ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love trees too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I just adore the Scribbly Gums. We don't have a lot around here and I have missed seeing there beautiful natural artwork.
ReplyDeleteI have a few paintings in my stash that are just sitting there and never going outside my house so I think I'll get them out and recycle them. Great idea, and I can't wait to see what you do with this one.
